Food Delivery Services: Friend or Foe? The use of food delivery services has been sky-rocketed since April when our governor shut down restaurants in April 2020. Pizza delivery used to dominate the restaurant delivery service, that is no longer true. Due to the pandemic, strict restrictions are placed on restaurants for take out orders only. With this order issued by the Washington State Governor, restaurants are struggling to keep their business afloat. More than ever, these restaurants are partnering with food delivery services to stay afloat or they think. Unfortunately, restaurants can lose up to 20 – 30 percent of their revenue for each order when customers order through these food delivery services. Customers pay on an average of $1 to $2 more per dish. Food delivery services are a double-edge sword for both the restaurant owners and for the customers. The price people willing to pay for the ease of convenience. Beware that “Free Delivery” is not always free. There are service fees connected to every delivery orders.
