This place is always a must for me when I visit Anacortes. The Santa Ana tuna sandwich is soooo good! Plus I just love the atmosphere.
Always great! Amazing food, friendly staff, clean restaurant and bathroom. Will keep coming back!
This is going to be a place we stop at every time we are in Anacortes. Delicious food, awesome service, HUGE portions. We filled up on the appetizer alone. They are slightly more expensive than other places but you get quality and quantity. Definitely recommend.
This is where locals go to meet friends, have a drink or two and eat good pub food. We love the Brown and the wonderful ladies and men who cook, wait, and serve us.
Excellent menu variety. Good beer selection. Prompt service. I had the Cobb Salad and it was brimming with goodness: firm avocados, crispy bacon, perfectly done hard boiled eggs, blue cheese, tomatoes, chicken and very fresh lettuce. I’d eat here again for sure!
This is my go to bar in Anacortes! Never go anywhere else. Great food, great drinks, the best staff in town!
Best burgers in the area, terrific drink selection, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere (plus an outdoor area that allows smoking). The Brown is the eatery of choice for the locals.
Good food but a cold restaurant
5/5 Habi-tots + carne asada – adding the carne asade was great
3/5 Beer battered fish tacos – the fish pieces were too large for tortilla, and the taco was missing some sort of cream
4/5 Single bathroom
We also ordered a sandwich to go. It eas extremely annoying that even though we dined in, they charged us a 4% to-go charge on the entire bill. A star was removed for this reason.
Do not order from door dash from them. They will not get all your food and ignore allergy warnings. Second time I’ve had my order canceled on me after them confirming my order then just shutting off their Door dash. Good food, poor execution.
Great place for corned beef on St. Patty’s Day! Our server Sandy was THE BEST!! Love your belt buckle!! Great food and great service! 👍
Best burgers in town! Great atmosphere and friendly staff!
Still Very good food and wide selection of liquids. Gotta do colimari if you have room.
Food was ok and drinks reminded me of them mediocre college drinks.
Atmosphere was pleasant but was quickly ruined by some of the worst food I’ve ever tasted. Ever. I developed diarrhea which lasted 3 long miserable days. The server seemed to be a nice person so I’m not sure why they were so rude to us. I’m not sure we would ever go here again.
The whaler was good but messy. I would order it again and sit in the restaurant side not the bar side
A great English pub atmosphere. Good food and beer and service.
Good good and drink options. 4 stars because you are not their priority lol. Very laid back atmosphere
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. I’ll be back next time I’m in town!
3 stars, service was mediocre at best, burger was big but lacked seasoning and was burnt on the outside, tater tots were also over cooked and hard. For a $18 burger meal I would have expected better
I really enjoyed my wrangler burger ! TRY IT !! My wife had the pulled pork which she enjoyed but the Cole slaw (which there was plenty of) was warm and had a funny after tast so it didn’t get eatin. Our waitress was nice enough but didn’t refill my diet coke . I think we spent 41 ish dollars including a 5 buck tip . Which in my opinion is fairly pricy for pub food but I think I’d come back to try other dishes. Looks like it can be hit or miss judging by the reviews. I say today was a hit.
Experience some of A-Towns quaint atmosphere with live bands on the weekends at the Brown Lantern. Excellent service and positive energy is what you will get here.
Great environment, great service and great food!!!! Can’t wait to come back for breakfast 🤤
I had two great nights here while i was in town. It had some solid live music on the weekend as well. The drinks were made well, the brother bartenders and everyone else there were a delight to be around and get served by. The food i had was very good and seemed fresh and quality. If you find yourself in need of a place to hangout and get some drinks and casual food, this is top notch in the area.
Absolutely love this place and always make sure I stop by when I happen to get up to Anacortes. I have an incredible beer garden out back that’s not really like anything I’ve got down in my home city of Seattle
Great atmosphere with friendly staff and a decent beer selection. My Cobb salad was on point and my husband LOVED the calamari, but the chicken sandwich our friend had was said to be weirdly greasy and he wasn’t able to eat it. Still recommend going!
Nice place to enjoy a beer. Onion rings are delicious.
Locals recommended. Food wise. Fresh and something for most. Salad was above most. Beer selection outstanding. Or maybe we h a ve such outstanding local breweries in the northwest.
Excellent atmosphere and really friendly staff! The dishes are huge. My burger was hand made and really delicious! Excellent chicken wings too!
Fantastic local pub with great food, attentive servers, and an impressive listing of local brews and ciders. The fish tacos did not disappoint, and the CBGB chicken sandwich had great flavor. Large portions, big enough to share, especially if you want apps or dessert.
Parking: Extra extra parking is available behind the restaurant on the west side. Including the local theater parking lot and street parking to the northwest in angle in and parallel parking spots. There is a handicap access ramp entering from the back. With a partially covered outdoor patio area on the back side as well as seating outdoors on the front.
As well as serving beer wine and mixed drinks. Dislocation has a diverse pubfare menu. With frequent weekend live entertainment.
A friendly locals hang out !
Usually hit The Brown before catching the ferry home. Afternoon is the best time to get food especially off the appetizer menu.
The new owner is sprucing up the tired looking clubhouse and is adding on an outdoor patio. I’m so happy that the old Lams Links is still part of the community. Great par 3 course.
Great old bar with character everywhere you look. The bartender who served us was working his tail off, and the place was obviously a favorite spot based on the number of people.
I was very glad that I stopped at the Brown Lantern for lunch while in Anacortes. The weather was sunny and I could sit outside. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. And the food! Best chili I have eaten in years. I ordered a small greek salad, and when it arrived- I thought they brought me the large instead of a small salad- but it was the correct order. Very fresh with chunks of goat cheese (and not sprinkles). Oh- and the beer was good too!
Service a little slow based on logistical setup, but the waiters do their best. Food is good+ and reasonably priced. Decent beer menu. Wasn’t expecting top notch metropolis ale house and got what I expected. Good place to stop if you’re in the area a couple days.
The worst service in town. Sometimes it seems like any one of the 5 or 6 bartenders there are doing you a big favor to see if you need a beer. It used to be such a great bar, and fun to hang around. Go up the street a few blocks to the Wheel House or the Union Tavern for fantastic customer service from a friendly bartender, that is good at their job!
I like this place! It was just the right amount of busy, the people were nice and the food was delicious. It also had a great atmosphere, and I look forward to going back for a beer one day
As good as you get for bar food, the servers were super nice and the food was great would totally recommend 👌
Loved our experience on Thursday so we came back on Sunday. Food was excellent on Thursday..good on Sunday. Wait staff 5 stars on Thursday not so much on Sunday. A big thank you to all the wait staff that helped us when our assigned person was just too busy to serve us. Remember you may have helped 100 people before we sat down but you were the first person to help us. It certainly can be challenging but I don’t care that you helped 99 people before me. Still you’re a local favorite and that speaks how good you are 99.99% of the time.
Fish and chips were really good. Cold and delicious beer.
Burger was fantastic, great flavors, not your typical frozen patty. Tons of history inside, local favorite since 1933.
My wife and I decided to explore Anacortes. We cost to eat at Brown Lantern, and we were not disappointed. We had the Prawn and Chips, and the Fish and Chips, which were equally tasty.
It had a great vibe. Service was slowww bc of staffing. But the people who were working were great. They were over worked & the food was okay
Great spot! I am typically skeptical of places that have a large menu, but our meals were delicious! I had the beer battered prawns and husband had fish and chips. Really, really tasty. Fries were perfect . Cole slaw was perfect.. We also had the Jim Beam Godfather to drink, also super good. Weight staff was friendly and prompt. We sat outside to enjoy the weather. It was great!
Just alright. Food was alright, nothing bad. Calamari was tender but cold and the dipping sauce was odd. Service left a little to be desired, drinks went unrefilled, had to ask for our check after being finished for a while. Two bartenders were serving the whole floor so needless to say they were busy, but doing their best. For $50 for 2 with no alcohol for lunch? Meh, there’s plenty of other places with a little better service and Slightly better food.
Horrible customer service, I understand everyone is short handed. We arrived around 7:50 this evening and we waited for about 15-20. A gentleman came out and said They were on back order for 45 min and sure we wanted to wait. Another gentleman came out right after him and said oh we ain’t serving food kitchen closes in 20 mins. Worst customer service For this Brown restaurant. I work in customer service And that showed me this restaurant ain’t it
The Brown Lantern has been my main watering hole since 2015, and I’ve always enjoyed the food, drink and service. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, and I enjoy being able to drink a pint and light up my (tobacco) pipe in the back patio. I highly recommend it.
Had the bbq pulled pork sandwich with fries. It was freaking AMAZING. The cole slaw was perfect. Fries were great. Sandwich was wet without being g messy and had amazing flavor. Will definitely be bacm.
Absolutely terrible! We went there for a quick drink. The sign at the door says “please wait to be seated”. We waited right beside the waitress who was serving a group of people at the table, after which she looked at us and ignored us. She never came back to seat us so we walked out.
The food we ordered was good, however, they didn’t include the au jus with my wife and my sandwich. We really wanted the au jus, that was one of the reasons why we ordered that particular sandwich. I didn’t think at a restaurant like this I would have to double-check that particular item before leaving. Pretty disappointing.
It is tradition for our family to eat here the first night we arrive from a long day’s travel (from the east cost visiting family here). Granted, it’s usually years between visits but the last visit early September just seemed off. I’m all for the ‘dive bar’ atmosphere but patrons shouldn’t have to endure cigarette smoke coming from the back of the building wafting through to the dining area. The building and decor may have been the same but the ambiance and charm just seemed lacking- it felt true to the ‘local hangout’ and that ‘outsiders not welcome’. The food was sub-par but at least the brews were cold and refreshing. Perhaps it was an off night or my memories of the place are romanticized and it’s skewing my opinion of what it is today but it was an unfortunate visit as it will most likely be the very last time we ever visit Anacortes.
I’m a fan of the bar side. These stars are on account of good people and a decent beer selection. I like to get a burger with the crab chowder for a side, but too often the burger is charred past well done all the way through. The nachos are in dire need of a remix.
Consistently friendly staff and a continually happy experience. A+/-
I have searched all over Washington state and finally a Black n Tan made perfectly paired with your spicy Lamb burger: a blow my mind taste sensation…YUM
The place was packed for the 2022 Oyster Run and the staff was fantastic! They were upbeat and the service with this many people was admirable! And the burger was fantastic.
I had a burger(wrangler) which was great. Made to order hot and fresh. Had a local beer from farmstrong brewing.
The food was incredible my wife had fish and chips and it’s hard to scream but they’re at least 2 in 3 in thick about 6 in is long by about 3 in wide great food great drinks great people with beards that seems to be the ways they are there laid back comfortable and all the servers and managers have beers loved the place will be back often for food there
Good food, friendly atmosphere. They hard a local peach hard cider which always makes this non-beer drinker happy. Service was a little slow the Saturday night we were there and I assume they were short staffed which seems to be normal right now. Definitely would visit again as I saw multiple things on the menu I would like to try.
