Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever tried. Very cute place. Got a strong whiff of formaldehyde or something when first entering but I got used to it over time.
Amazing breakfast here, great service and we got our food quickly. The bloody marry was top notch, highly recommend!
I waited 45 minutes for a $12 pancake and I had to tolerate smoke and crying children. The staff was not helpful.
Amazing food and great service !!! A must stop for brunch
Very good food, great service. Many choices on the menu. Busy place, on the louder side. I’ll definitely be back.
We had the grits and shrimp along with the verde hash and our only regret was not personally thanking the cook for making the best breakfast we can remember while on our travels. A little on the salty side but still really exceptional. Very nice service as well.
This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. First we waited 2 hours for a table. Which is fine when the food is good. After ordering we waited another 2 hours. Finally we got our food, there was a piece of hair in it. When pointed out to the server, she seemed annoyed. On our bill, she removed the item that had the hair and then added it back on. We then still paid full price for everything!
The most uncomfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in.
The food was mediocre, one of the drinks was actually pertty decent.
What really got me was the automatic 16% service charge they tac on. Then ask/expect you to tip on top of that.
Honestly, some of the best brunch I’ve ever had! Drinks are superb! I will be coming back at least once before I leave Spokane!
Service was slow, food was standard, and a very, very well hidden default 16% service fee. Tried two mimosa, one was incredibly strong and the other was luke warm.
Where to start!? We got the brisket hash and the loaded scramble and they were SO flavourful. Massive portions – I saw servers hand out a ton of boxes for people to take food home. The coffee was also delicious apparently from a local place called – Roast House. Our server Tara was honestly a huge highlight. She was so friendly and helpful with ALL our questions both about the menu as well as places around town (were visiting from Canada). Check this place out and if you get Tara you’re in for a treat.
Great little spot for a brunch, the vegan tacos were quite tasty.
Atmosphere was relaxing food was amazing!!
3 words: Bacon Sticky Bun. I have no words to describe the delightful decadence that is this. Highly suggest as an appetizer and a dessert. Your taste buds and attitude will thank you.
P.S. I would add a photo but I already ate it. 12/10.
My partner and I had high expectations for this place but we were pretty underwhelmed. We’ve come by a few times only to leave due to the wait and assumed that this was a result of high demand, but it seems more likely to be the result of a slow process. The drinks were good and they need to be when you have to wait upwards of 40 minutes between ordering and receiving food. The sticky bun was quite good too, though I understand they run out of them pretty regularly. Unfortunately our mains – a tamale waffle and breakfast burrito – were underwhelming. If I worked in the kitchen there, I’d be annoyed that I had to carefully stick lettuce under a pretty-bland waffle to give it lift on the plate. The fries and breakfast burrito were underseasoned and bland. It seems like the place is putting more emphasis into attracting attention on Instagram than efficiently serving food it’s diners will want to return for.
Pros: Great alcohol selection, sticky bun was delicious, great presentation, great service.
Cons: Despite the great presentation, the food itself was underwhelming. Seasoning was lacking, so very bland flavor. Unnecessary garnishes. A very long wait.
All in all, if you’d like to have good drinks and post pictures on your social media, this place is for you. However, if you’re looking for taste, perhaps try somewhere else.
We had a great experience here! No wait time, amazing food, & great drinks. Some of the reviews say that the 16% service fee was hidden and that you were asked to tip on top of that, that’s not true. The servers highlight the part of the receipt that’s says it’s included in your total, & that anything extra goes all to your server. There was no pressure to tip on top of that, even though we did because our service and food was amazing.
The food was very good! The portions were great as well. Hoping to go back soon! Very difficult to find parking but that’s not their fault
I typically don’t leave any reviews that aren’t 4-5 stars, but hopefully the owners will see this feedback and make changes. First no parking; must use curbside metered parking or paid public parking. Long 20-25 minute outside wait time. When 2 of us arrived for a table, there was an open table and although there were others waiting they had more than 2 in their parties. After waiting outside in 90+ degree heat for 25 minutes, was seated at the table that had been open when we arrived. Clearly it wasn’t a table availability, but rather a shortage of workers. Beware the restaurant smelled heavily of smoked meat. When we asked if pork could be left out of the Monte Cristo we were told no. The cinnamon waffle didn’t taste anything like cinnamon but was dry and tasteless. Coffee was lukewarm. 15+ minute from order to table, but food was lukewarm too.
I usually like this place! However, my friend asked for a vegan dish and they put some cheese on it 🤨 the other two dishes we got were good and I know stuff happens!
They smoke their own meats
Unique brunch food! The tamale waffle tasted great but it was almost impossible to cut. The beef is delicious – would highly recommend.
Great location, service & food. Their menu is very unique, and their mimosa menu has something for everyone. I ordered the chilaquiles & they were delicious. The portion size was large & the prices were more than reasonable. I sat outside & the location is very nice. I would come back again & recommend you pay them a visit!
Unfortunately a disappointing experience. 45 minutes to get seated was reasonable since it was brunch on Saturday, but waiting over an hour to get our food left us overly hungry and our party of 5 was noticeably anxious.
The verde scramble was flavorful but too many sweet potatoes for my liking. My wife’s chorizo tacos had no noticeable chorizo in it and the “grilled tortillas” were not even kissed by a grill.
sadly we won’t be putting this on our list of places to return to.
Visited on a Monday morning, hard to find parking nearby, place was packed. We were seated within 15min and given our own water pitcher to refill our drinks as needed. Food took longer than expected to come out but we were pleased with our breakfast dishes (my only suggestion would be to put the butter on the side of the pancakes as it was served on top melted into a puddle in the center and so I couldn’t spread it around to all the pancakes). We were full and happy when we left. Place was clean and servers were nice.
I’ve been to Bruncheonette 3-4 times and I’m also so impressed with the quality and simple creativity of the food. I think this is the best Spokane brunch and breakfast spot.
Delicious food and great service. The only issue I had was that the drink was not what I expected and didn’t have the flavor I wanted.
Too big for their britches. Given how busy they are, you would think they could provide a better-sized lobby instead of making the hostess continually holler at people to get out of the doorway. The “French toast” was absolutely the wrong texture to be enjoyable (it fell apart into a pile. A literal pile.), the ground pepper on the table was too big to go through the holes in the shaker, and this 16% service charge is management’s attempt to circumvent paying their staff a living wage by passing the cost off to the customers. This isn’t the end-all-be-all of culinary experiences in Spokane and the service/atmosphere is better at other restaurants.
Me and my wife have been wanting to try this place for awhile. And my biggest takeaway is that you will overpay and they will not deliver. The coffee was VERY bitter; I like to drink coffee black on occasion but no amount of cream and sugar cut the bitter. The food really didn’t seem to have anything that special about it, their biggest claim to fame seeming to be a housemade chorizo which is just OK. Accross the table we got chillaquiles, brown sugar waffles, chicken and waffles, and French toast. No one was impressed, and we will not be returning. However it is worth a try and is very popular, so hopefully you enjoy it. As for me I will be at yards across the parking lot.
Amazing place for American breakfast style … awesome coffee … good energy flowing among team members. Clean and organized environment.
I was already told we are going back everytime we go to Spokane. The wait to get in is worth it. I wouldnt take kids or picky eaters. Everyone but me liked the potato medley. It was alright just Im not a big fan of sweet potatos. The drip coffee was the best that I had in Spokane. Service was good. Prices were alright.
Best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. Also, ordered the brisket hash wich is another new favorite! Chef quality brunch dining, for sure!
A nice little place. Food was good.
Bomb.com.food and drinks, but the food did take a minute or two. After wandering where my breakfast burrito could have gone for about 45 minutes, I was pleasantly surprised (and starving) by the time of this arrival. Don’t be in a rush when it’s time to try this spot.
Really yummy food. Get here early as it’s popular
Ok the most important part of the review: Eat here. The food and drinks are phenomenal. Pros and cons below.
The Pros:
The food is creative and delicious. Some of the best breakfast/brunch food in the city, by far. Can’t wait to try other things on the menu!
Filling portions and chill atmosphere. You won’t feel under dressed if you are slumming it on a day off for the glorious brisket hash.
Good drinks.(I only had the alcoholic ones. I’m sure the others are on par with them.)
Quality ingredients translates into happy stomach.
The food is so good you actually want to take what you don’t eat home and eat the rest of it like a shameful goblin. Just do yourself a favor and reheat it in a pan or oven at 350. Do not microwave it. You made the good decision to eat here, don’t mess that up by making a bad one and microwaving those delicious left overs.
The staff was friendly and prompt. My food hit my table within seconds of being done, steaming hot, already sipping my mimosa.
Neither Pro Nor Con, just fair wages for hospitality staff note:
Every bill does include a 16% service fee to ensure everyone is getting paid a livable wage. I highly recommend you add another 20% for the server as they are great at what they do here. Support places that pay their staff a livable wage. If you can’t afford to tip stop eating out. With a drink each and two orders of the most expensive item (the delicious brisket hash. Highly recommend. Only $16) and the service fee with tax came out to 62.50, don’t hesitate to leave another 10-15 for the server. They split that service fee with back of house. The price is worth what you get in return. I’d pay $20-$25 for the brisket hash in another city and it probably would taste worse. Don’t complain about people needing to pay their bills too, no one made you not know how to cook yourself delicious breakfast at home, so eat the food, drink the drinks, pretend you don’t even see a service fee and tip accordingly. The nap you’ll have after this insanely good food will help you forget.
The Cons:
Limited parking in back, so if it’s a busy day you will have to fight for street parking or parking in the relatively small parking lot in back.
The kitchen is SMALL, they are clearly still able to bang out insanely good meals but I could see if you came on a busy day, you may wait a bit for the food while they do their thing. It is worth the wait honestly. 100% in every way worth it, just something that someone in a hurry should be aware of.
That is it, and honestly those are just things they literally can’t do anything about. If they could I’m sure they would have a much larger kitchen and a massive parking lot. Unless you are in a hurry on a weekend or you cannot park in tight spaces (You know who you are) then go somewhere else, otherwise stop wasting time looking for somewhere to eat and just go here, you will not be disappointed. At all.
Did I mention the food is damn good? Really damn good.
1 hour wait then once you sit down and order it took another hour to get your food! Service was ok and very very loud.
Just the most friendly and attentive service.
Great service, food was fantastic
Biscuits n gravy with sunnyside up eggs were amazing, and the coffee is very good just black. Waitress was super nice as well! An excellent brunch experience.😊
So I thought I knew all the great brunch places in Spokane…. How did I miss this right? Well, well, well, let me tell you…I should have gone here sooner! The chicken biscuit was huge and freshly baked with tons of delicious gravy (there is optional chorizo gravy as well!) The pork Verde hash was perfectly spicy, filling, and delicious. Everything is craft made and you can see some care in the prep, food, and service. Be forewarned that they add the tip before the bill, but the prices of this place are very reasonable (especially for the quality of foods you are getting, like real fresh baked brioche toast) so that will more than make up any difference in your wallet.
Coffee was too strong otherwise ok
I love the food at the bruncheonette, but I feel like the service is getting worse. Servers constantly forget orders and have a general disinterest, it’s disheartening because I have loved this restaurant since it opened.
I had the blueberry muffin french toast and I wouldn’t call it french toast. 100% accurate on the blueberry muffin part. Wasn’t given a choice on my coffee and was brought a dark roast coffee drink that was not hot enough to melt the sugar I put in it… friendly staff and a good modern dinner experience… probably wouldn’t go again…oh be prepared for a 16% service charge that they automatically charge you for… only a table of two so not a large group up charge
Fantastic experience! Food was way beyond my expectations. The best Reuben that I’ve ever had. Highly suggest for a brunch spot. Waitress was also super helpful, friendly & went beyond to make it a pleasant dining experience.
Wow. The food was incredible to the very last bite. Portions are perfectly sized. They have 22 mimosa options, it’s amazing. The service was also impeccable.
Food is amazing and unique, but don’t accept online to go orders if you don’t have the capacity to get them out in a timely manner. It’s not the staff’s fault, the place is incredibly popular. Been waiting for a half hour past the estimated time, which was already an hour out. So, 1.5 hours for a Benedict.
Great good and service
pretty good. server was really nice
Must try brunch spot. Food is spectacular. Smoked Brisket Hash and Verde Hash left us speechless. Definitely not the cheapest place but so worth it. It was an experience.
Lovely place and great food.
The menu indicated that certain dishes are, or can be, prepared Gluten Free. I confirmed with our server that the dish I ordered was gluten-free. I informed her that I had celiac disease and that it was important that my order be strictly gluten-free. She assured me that it was.
Well, it was not!! The food had been contaminated with wheat in the preparation process. I was VERY sick!!
The staff seemed to have no knowledge of what “Gluten Free” really is, or how critical it is for someone who has Celiac….or maybe they just do not care.
Solid good food, service, and tables at Bruncheonette. Verde Hash with 2 eggs had tasteful blend of flavors with light heat from poblano peppers. Breakfast burrito was substantial and delicious, side option of creamy yogurt with granola makes it nearly a two-person meal. For strong coffee, try the dark-roast French press. Outdoor 3-season seating. Music is conversation friendly.
Food and service are top notch. 👌
Busy place but the employees take the time to know the customers.
Fantastic smells hit you as soon as you walk in. Very popular, so reserve a table if you have a large party. A group of 6(+?) in front of me couldn’t sit all together. But the food was fantastic. I tried the Café Olé cocktail, and my partner tried the spiced apple cider (non alcoholic, but they can make it a cocktail). Brunch burger with arugula has a perfectly crispy fried egg. “Rude-ben” (Reuben) sandwich was perfectly seasoned.
Cute little restaurant that serves early morning food and mimosas. The coffee is brewed locally so it has a very strong flavor, be warned.
Food was on point. Huge servings. The veggies were well cooked. The hot sauces provided are craft hot sauce from Texas, and I do recommend trying them especially on the potato hash.
The service was good, limited selection of food. Mainly overpriced breakfast items. They did have a couple of lunch dishes. I ordered the chicken sandwich, it was burnt, I would’ve said something but I had jury duty that day so I just had to hurry out of there. I will say they do have really good apple cider. I wouldn’t suggest this place mainly because of the limited options and the cost of the meal.
One of our favorite spots to go!
The Shrimp and Grits are Alabamian tested and Alabamian approved. Absolutely delicious!
Beyond phenomenal food, atmosphere & staff
Excellent food friendly and great service
Bruncheonette delivers a great atmosphere and simple menu that makes it a local favorite. The service was outstanding and Bruncheonette may be someone’s favorite — it just wasn’t mine. The food was fairly priced, tasted fresh, but underwhelmed in flavors.
The gravy was too salty and made it difficult to enjoy the “Biscuits and Gravy”. I figure with a menu item that’s simple, it lacked the perfection they strive to achieve. The Monte Cristo was simple, but something I felt I could’ve made better at home. The best part was the hot-chocolate as it was a safe bet. I noticed other tables had meals that looked wonderful, but it may be a hit or miss when it comes to the flavors. Maybe worth it to try again in a few months — but I don’t think this is the best brunch spot I’ve discovered in Spokane
Food is great, very diverse selection which makes it hard to choose. Drink menu is the same! Staff friendly and fast.
Great variety of drinks, including mimosas, this place was a perfect brunch spot.
The wait list to get in was 30 to 45 min, but the food was terrific. Quite the selection of mimosas. I had pancakes with honey- butter and a side of potato medley (potato, sweet potato, and yam wedges). My friend had the tamale waffle, and she loved it.
I’ve heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint. I had the vegan Benedict and it was delicious.
The staff was so friendly and the food was amazing!
