Given the 2 locations… My favorite by far! Staff is more personalized and home town. Friendly, happy, and efficient!
We ordered from Calico Cupboard as part of the meal for our wedding recently in December. I worked with Tabitha by email in preparing for the event and arranging the order after an initial call to the cafe. She was a delight to work with! Very professional and organized and had our food and instructions ready for us the day of! We ordered the artichoke and gorgonzola quiches, which we then just heated up to serve later that morning, as well as a bunch of the scones (for which we made a nice cream). Delicious!!! Highly recommend if you are looking for excellent food ready to take to your event!
We stopped by today looking for something fresh and delicious and we were not disappointed! Amazing avocado toast and coffee. Awesome customer service, so friendly and down to earth. Great vibe all around. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re passing through.
Loved it. The food is perfect. We were there for brunch. The bathrooms are clean and have hooks and shelves very thoughtfully designed. There’s plenty of parking and enough seating.
They have one of the best breakfasts ANYWHERE! Every trip to the great northwest includes eating here as often as possible!
Calico corn beef hash & cinnamon roll was straight fire 🔥🔥 10/10
Great food and atmosphere. Even though they were very busy the service was quick and staff was nice!
Love this place. Probably eat here 2-3 times a week. Their specials are so good and healthy! The full menu has returned post-COVID and it’s awesome!
I love Calico Cupboard. If I am in Anacortes and have time for breakfast, it is my first choice. You won’t be disappointed.
Went in for a casual cup of coffee and a pastry and was gravely disappointed by both the wait staff and the food itself. Staff was quite abrupt and rude with most of the patrons and the pastry was practically inedible. Very disappointed and am hoping for better expirience if I am to visit again.
I thought the service was good and was made my experience of the San juan islands better.
In the past my favorite Reuben was at Calico Cupboard but now Gere-a-Deli wins in Anacortes. The sourdough bread size was big enough to serve 2 and it was great, though not grilled. The problem was the quality & quantity of corned beef wasn’t as good. There was fat on the meat, it was a bit stringy and one slice thin. The Swiss cheese was only on part of the sandwich. The sauerkraut & dressing was fine. The last one I had was in Mount Vernon and it was awesome. Probably depends on the cook. The photo is the big half of the sandwich.
Service was prompt, attentive, and our meal was fantastic. I couldn’t ask more from a breakfast spot. We will definitely be back!
This place was worth the wait. I had Linda’s Brother in Law’s Hash and got a peanut butter bar and lemon bar to go. It was all delicious!
Went to the Calico Cupboard before heading to the tulip fields. The wait was reasonable, the coffee was delicious, and I am in love with their hotcakes. The texture is fantastic.
Wonderful cozy restaurant, with great service and delicious food. It was so good we went two days in a row! We have a few family members who are celiac and they took excellent care of us and seemed very knowledgeable on the matter. They even had fresh gluten free items in their to-go bakery case which was very exciting for us. There is lots of seating and the whole space is just warm and happy. I definitely recommend trying the cinnamon roll French toast if you don’t have to be gluten free, however if you do my mom said she highly recommends the Hudsons hash.
Really good food and a great variety. Delicious regular bread and many gluten free options as well. We did not try gf bread. But everyone in our party liked their sandwiches and salad. Clam chowder was not a big hit but that can be a very personal choice.
Wow…be ready to be full. Biscuits and gravy is killer. Large portion and great service
Oh my!! The food is DELICIOUS!!! I was sad that they were limited on their bakery but that’s the way it goes when the quality is so good. I also had the toasted coconut latte and it was really good! I highly recommend this place!
Breakfast is my favorite meal and CC did not disappoint. The menu had a lot of great choices and the food was delicious. The staff was great and the service was impeccable. What a great place for a meal!
Fantastic drip coffee from Fidalgo Bay roasters! Portions are very generous, two adults could easily share one dish. We enjoyed Eggs Benedict and Migas, all with homemade bread products and fresh ingredients. This is a must-stop if you’re in Anacortes for a meal!
Wonderful food and very gf friendly. We had breakfast there. Their gf bread is a toast choice and it is a good one. Didn’t think to ask if they sell it. They are a bakery as well and have a great selection of goodies!
Super friendly staff and awesome brunch menu! The bakery turns out some incredible cinnamon rolls and fancy lattés
Great selection and food tasted really good.
A bit of a wait but well worth it!
amazing, food excellent, served quick and hot…they were so organized..short wait..service excellent..this is a very busy day for our art fest…congratulations on a job well done!!!
Had breakfast here August 3rd and it was awesome. Friendly staff and great tasty food. Can’t wait to go again next year.
This old gal ALWAYS goes to Calico Cupboard when I am in Anacortes.. Their bakery is AWSOME. I had the cinnamon French toast and it was Delicious. Their mimosa’s can’t be beat.
OMG, has to be the best breakfast around. And bold delicious hot coffee too!
Food delicious 😋. Only sad thing is the blond woman employee with the frown on her face that walks around like she hates working there. The rest of the staff were smiling and very personable. We were told she’s acted like that for years. Made for a sad breakfast watching her stomp by like she wanted to kick someone’s bottom.
Terrible hospitality. Hostess was the rudest server I’ve ever encountered. We waited outside for 45 minutes, never heard our name called, went back to check the list to see our name crossed out. I (politely) asked the Hostess about it and she angrily told us that she had called our name once, and since we didn’t hear it we had lost our turn and would have to add our names to the bottom of the list if we wanted a table. Her point was understandable but her attitude was absolutely shocking, I work in the service industry and can empathize with stress but this woman was straight up mean.
I’ve never left a negative review for any place in my life but also have never been treated this poorly. Left in tears!
We had an interesting experience to say the least…..
The first server was sweet and got our order in promptly which was the only pleasant part of our experience.
When the food arrived we realized some items were missing and everyone’s meal was cold. We didn’t make a big deal out of it because mistakes happen and we were in a rush to catch the ferry.
It was when the bill arrived that things got super uncomfortable. We noticed a charge for a side dish of hollandaise. I ordered eggs Benedict and asked for a little extra hollandaise sauce on my dish not a separate cup for 5.00!
No big they could take it off especially seeing they never told me that it was an extra charge and because of the forgotten items on the kids meals.
Not only did they not take the charge off the bill they argued with me in an incredibly demeaning manner. I was absolutely shocked how rude she was. It was almost comical it was so over the top.
Well, I paid the bill in full but will not recommend or return to this establishment.
My request was simply a request and I would’ve paid for the hollandaise regardless. I guess I expected a kinder response and a compromise because of the other issues with our meal which I chose to not make a big deal about.
It was the undeserved side of anger that I received with my benedict that I take issue with. So sad the end what was a lovely meal with such a silly trivial issue.
The migas are Amazing!!!!! Everything here is good but those especially. The service is superb. Don’t forget to ask your server for recommendations.
My favorite spot for brunch. Great food, very, VERY friendly staff. The chocolate chip coookies…..have one…two…maybe three….but more, keep some foe others 😀
Delicious! Had the Migas, never seen this breakfast before, similar to Huevos rancheros but better, absolutely delicious! The slice of quiche my husband had was pretty big, the potatoes that came with it were probably some of the best we’ve ever had! Lots of fresh baked goods, they make everything homemade, even their own bread! Highly recommend!
Cozy little restaurant. The servers were friendly. I decided to have breakfast here due to all the great reviews. But unfortunately I wasn’t very impressed with my meal. I had biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs. It wasn’t bad, just meh. Maybe something else there tastes better.
Nice place for breakfast, they had some good vegetarian options although thier crossoint was on the drier side. The staff were very polite and accommodating. The portions were on the larger side.
Friendly staff start to finish. Great food and lots of options for everyone!
Wonderful service and great homemade food. Large portions; enough to share. Pastries are to die for!
Overall, really poor quality sandwich (rotten avacado, two pieces of bread with some meat), and poor service.
I called and ordered a sandwich for 11am at 9am and the person told me it would be ready at 11:05 due to kitchen turning over and I said no problem. I arrived at 11am to pay and they said it would be ready in ten minutes, I said no problem. At 11:15 I asked how much longer and they said one more minute. My order was not ready until 11:20am. The lady next to me was very upset and told me she was late to a ferry and was also promised her food would be ready at 11:05. She reminded the service team she was going to miss her ferry and they did not seem to care. Her food also did not come out until after mine and she had to sprint to her car to try to make the ferry.
Usually, I would not write a review but having to wait on top of receiving a poor quality sandwich I received I believe deserved writing a review. I paid $16 for what appeared to be half of a tasteless sandwich with some chips and rotten avocado. Pretty disappointed with my experience overall.
Wonderful place to have a fantastic breakfast. You will not walk away hungry.
Chai and coffee are tops and close to farmers market. This location looks like it has a nice big party room too.
Huuuuge portions. Amazing food. Gotta be the best breakfast in Anacortes.
Great, greater, greatest. Had Brussel sprouts, potatoes and eggs. Big enough to share with my sister.
This place is amazing! Atmosphere, coffee is incredible, food and everything is so good! This is pretty clean and nice cafe, highly recommended!
Food was great service was ok nice upscale place
The generous amount of food and crispy toast that comes with it go very well with butter. Everything is very fresh and suitable for brunch with sunshine.
Great food, friendly service, and big portions. They open early on the weekends, which is super convenient.
This place was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint. We were visiting over the border from Vancouver, BC, Canada and even with the exchange rate we felt like the food was good value for the money. With a charming country-cozy interior decor, choc-a-block with farm-style wood tables, lots of seating and nice nooks and corners, Calico was great just to be inside.
The menu was so varied, there was something for everyone, and the portion sizes were outstanding (the clubhouse sandwich even satisfied the bottomless pit of my teenage son’s appetite). I could see it even being too much for some people!
We arrived just before peak lunch hour and that was a good thing, as it got busy quickly. Would recommend going off-peak hours for easiest access.
Wonderful restaurant! The fish tacos were delicious. The baked goods looked amazing, but I was too full for dessert. May have to start with that next time!
I got the Brussels sprout hash – WOW!! So so so delicious, everything was cooked perfectly. Crispy potatoes and sprouts. Home made salsa verde was spot on!! So yummy.
This cafe is very quaint and the food is okay. However, it’s a bit pricey for what you get. For example, I ordered quiche last week and it didn’t taste very fresh. It was dry AND they charged me $5 for the order of potatoes that came with it! Most of their baked goods are more expensive than items that are just as good at other places in Atown. I’ve been disappointed.
