They’ve got great coffee! It was strong, and not because it had been sitting on a warmer. I ordered eggs Benedict with home fries. The ham was several slices of shaved ham, not a thick slab like most places. That made it much easier to cut into cleanly, and was a great texture. The home fries were crispy fried and had a tasty, seasoned salt applied. The staff checked in and warmed up my coffee when it needed it. I’ll definitely go again.

Best Chicken Fried Steak! Gravy actually has flavor. We stop here every time we return from Coeur D’Alene. And the staff are always prompt and pleasant . My favorite breakfast place.

  3. Ryan Foley

Tried many diners in town and this one is by far the best. Great atmosphere and excellent food. Definitely worth the wait due to the small space.

  4. Jared Bogyo

Best breakfast in Spokane. I made a mistake getting the veggie omelette… I saw a waffle as I was leaving and had regrets. Not that the omelette was bad, quite the contrary, I was just jealous of about half the plates even with a full belly. Says a lot about the quality.

  5. Allison Buckley

This place is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! husband and I go here frequently cuz its just to good. Staff is just as amazing as the food.

  6. scratchbuilt for fun

This place is a must do and they must eat at for sure the service is better than any place in town the prices are great and the food is even better if you come to Spokane you need to go to this place specifically

  7. Trent Larson

Great breakfast place! Very cozy environment, it actually feels like a homey cottage. As a vegetarian this place does have many options and specificly a vegetarian eggs benedict which is very good! The place is small so plan for lines and a wait to find a table. Not a good place for large groups. All in all it is one of the best breakfast places in Spokane Valley.

  8. Nadine Burgess

I’m so glad that they are back open! The absolutely best cottage fries anywhere, along with light and fluffy omelets filled in deliciousness.

  9. Chris Brooks

This is our new breakfast place by a stretch, a smaller dining location it’s pretty much packed, so get there early or have tremendous patience; especially on the weekends. This location opens early which is fantastic, one of our favorite breakfast places doesn’t open until 0800 so that is a little limited given our usual time schedule. Food is fantastic; hot stuff is hot, cold stuff is cold, flavorful, good hearty homestyle type food for a fair price. Highly Recommended!

  10. Johanna Yegge

Stellar service and really good standard breakfast/lunch faire, REAL butter. Weekday visit, had a burger and waffle combo. Tip: get the Cottage Fries and try the strawberry jam. They also serve mimosas and beer.

  11. David Sizemore

I walk in, sit down, automatically have coffee in front of me. They know exactly what I want and it’s perfect every time. I am in and outta there in 20 minutes max. Not that they ever rush me, they are just that good. Also, if you like to dip your toast in your egg yolk… they always serve the toast with the meal…not 5 minutes after when your eggs are cold. My absolute favorite place for breakfast and I know that 99% of Spokane agrees.

  12. Scott Hively

First timer. Great diner food. Now I know why this place is so busy all the time. My omelet was awesome and I appreciate a place that has a lot of sauces right on your table.

  13. Kate S

Could use a little extra cleaning but the service was good and we enjoyed the food. Must be homemade whipped cream. Tasted like vanilla ice cream it was wonderful!

  14. Jody Gilbert

Expect long wait with kids . Biscuit are cold they sit them out all day. Even when sat down the waiter took over 15 min to take our order. I will not be back

  15. Carson C

This lovely little place is always hopping. All of the employees are on point, service is prompt, and the food is great. All you have to do is make it through the line at the door (which moves faster than you think).

  16. Kirk Nast

The Cottage Cafe was a nice experience. A from mine took me there and I ordered the Eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. I normally ask for extra gravy. But in this case extra hollandaise sauce and gravy. To my surprise not only did I get a cup of sauce and gravy but the sauce on the Eggs Benedict was alot. It’s nice to see a place not afraid to put a good amount on it to begin with.

  17. Erik Patterson

Best breakfast place in town. Worth the wait if you go during a busy time. They’re great at getting people in and out. Make sure to get the Cottage Fries with your meal!

  18. Tim McCart

Food tasted good, definitely worth a stop, not as spendy as I expected. You should try the hollandaise with your hashbrowns.

  19. Laura Hansen

Excellent experience. Food was great. Bacon was exceptional, thick and smoky. French toast, oh my .. great bread wonderful recipe. I love this place.

  20. Nick Landerholm

The cottage was busy (as usual) but we were seated quickly. The eggs Benedict was fantastic along with fresh orange juice and homemade jam on toast! Wonderful breakfast with my grandpa!

  21. Dorie Woytovech

First time here and was not all impressed. Very small place…waited 30 min to get a table. Server was very nice. BUT…asked for crisp bacon, came out limp and tough, asked for scrambled egg, seemed like they cooked it like a sheet, folded it over and left it on the cooktop so it turned into a rubber slab. Biscuits and gravy were ok, but gravy had too much pepper for my liking. Also gravy is SUPPOSED to white, not tan. Don’t think I will go back…sorry.

  22. Leslie “Lathrop” Crystal

The food is amazing and the service is super quick because it’s so popular there is sometimes a wait.

  23. Paige Williams

First time visiting and we were blown away. The food and service was great. My kids loved the homemade strawberry jam.

  24. Mel Cardenas

Such a quaint, cozy place! Everything is amazing! Homemade table-side strawberry jam is so good!

  25. DJ Griffith

Quaint little place with a great atmosphere, good food, and great staff. For a down home feel and good eats this is the place to go and very affordable.

  26. Lord Varyus

Just do your self the favor and try it. Small so gets busy usually try to go early or later in the day. If ya go at 930 you’ll wait 30 mins easy

  27. Keynan Hamilton

Extremely mediocre breakfast sandwich, I make them better at home. They didn’t seem to notice or care that I didn’t like it either. Little euro is way better.

  28. barbara miiller

Amazing food and great atmosphere. Service was quick, efficient, and friendly. Plan for a wait but thats to be expected since it’s a smaller building and popular. We will for sure be coming back. This is coming from a person who always thought breakfast foods were the same no matter where you went. Ive been proven wrong!

  29. Bailey A

Amazing food, HUGE PORTIONS and so tasty! Had to use the pano feature on my phone to get my plates in one photo lol! This lasted me THREE meals! Some for there and two more later on that I took home to go! SO MUCH FOOD! I haven’t been here in so long (10+ years?) and will definitely be back soon!

  30. Dena Walker

Best chicken friend steak in town, waitstaff and cooks do an awesome job, and wait time almost nonexistent 😎🤗

  31. Danyon Greymoon

I’m really happy that this place to survive the pandemic. My family’s been eating here for years, and even though a lot of my family has passed, I still go and bring friends for brunch.

The atmosphere is a little classier than your average diner, giving you a little European cottage feel. The staff has good humor, and will always make sure your coffee is topped off and hot.

I am a huge fan of their cinnamon roll, and I love their omelettes after a workout. Although sometimes if I need extra food I’ll hit the scramble. I would say other than that their eggs benedict is pretty good as well as their waffles.

Considering this place costs just as much as a Denny’s or a Sherry’s, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be going here instead.

  32. Carmen Spiller

Their motto is “home of the home cooked food”, and it’s 100% accurate! Wonderful soft pillowy biscuits, real meat gravy (so so good) their bacon is crispy rust red, their sausage links are thick and SO juicy, the absolute best I’ve ever had!! The chicken fried steak was super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, absolutely perfect. French toast had a great flavor, the hot cocoa tastes rich and creamy, so good! The cinnamon roll is huge, has a perfect crumb, tangy sweet cream cheese. The only think we didn’t try was the pancakes, but they looked great on other peoples plates. The sausage patty was my least favorite thing, so I’d just recommend substituting for the links. I’ve been coming to Spokane for 16 yrs and have only now discovered this gem. Do yourself a favor, and don’t miss out on this phenomenal, real home cooked, mouthwatering deliciousness!

  33. Thomas Hudson

This is a busy place planned to spend a few minutes waiting to get in but it’s well worth it large portions fabulous taste great service

  34. Dustin Ramsey

Best place for family breakfast, ok it’s affordable, great atmosphere 👌, employees are great at there jobs I hope the owners see how special thay are .

  35. Amanda Vijarro

Fantastic breakfast spot! You know the food is good because there’s always a wait, it’s definitely worth it. You get a lot of bang for your buck as well, plates are always piled high with food! If you’re looking for a good hearty breakfast spot in the valley, this is your place!

  36. Mike Coleman

We came here for breakfast around noon on a Sunday and it was pretty full. We had to wait about 30 minutes. The staff was very friendly and got all our orders correct. I ordered the scrambler and some biscuits and gravy and it was delicious. The eggs Benedict and French toast were also delicious. Will definitely come back again.

  37. D D

This is our favorite breakfast location. Always a line waiting but that is a good sign. The wait staff and chefs are fast and efficient and the tables turn over fast. The wait is never long and always worth it.

  38. Matthew Horejsi

Great food with big portions! Amazing people and service. Highly recommend. It is totally worth going out of your way to eat here!!

  39. Tyler Pachernegg

A MUST TRY! A very great restaurant with friendly servers, excellent service, and amazing food. For how small the place is we didn’t have to wait more then 10 mins even being a Saturday morning.

  40. Amy Bobst

My husband, daughter, and I absolutely love this place. Best breakfast in town by far! It is a small place and always slammed. However they are quick to get you seated. I don’t think I have ever waited longer than 20-25 minutes to be seated even on the busiest day. They are also extremely quick at getting your food out to you. Our favorites are the eggs Benedict, country Benedict, country fried steak, and the scramble. They also do not skimp on the mimosas. If you order a 16oz mimosa expect 14oz of champagne. Over the last 10 years of being a loyal customer I have never once had a bad experience with food or staff. Definitely a must visit. Also if you want to beat the rush go before 10 am. Still busy but usually will be seated quickly. I am beyond great full they made it through the pandemic and still going strong.

  41. Ward Harrington

We will not be back but we where served quickly and the strawberry jam was bomb. To big of a city to compare, if in the area they will take of you. 3.5 on food but it was not an option..

  42. Kiwi Ludge

Amazing time. Adorable cozy atmosphere. Wonderful food. I haven’t eaten at a restaurant in a long time that was such good food at such a great price. They really blew me away.
Wish I could have taken advantage of thier outdoor seating but it was closed.

  43. Jennifer Snow-Boscolo

Stopped for lunch on a road trip. Service was awesome with a fun vibe. Cinnamon rolls are huge and so sweet I couldn’t eat the whole thing, son had biscuits and gravy and loved it and daughters fish and chips was good too. The fries were REALLY tasty and the squeeze bottle of strawberry jam was fun!

  44. Monica Sayers

Their employees are amazing. They know how to work a busy restaurant. To me, they make the best hash browns. I love them on the crispy side. On the flip side, wasn’t a fan of the gravy. But all in all a great experience.

  45. Big Burchy

This is a great little hidden place. Always super busy when I go by. So be prepared to sit a spell. I believe they only stay open till about 2. Didn’t disappoint me and the prices are reasonable. Must try.

  46. Roman Rojas

My family and friends have been coming to this place for about 6 or 7 years and , I recommend it every time anyone asks me about a great breakfast and/or lunch place. They have the very best food around, great customer service and the pancakes are to die for! Thank you! #cottagecafe #bestpancakesintheworld

  47. Kat Heredia

Cozy space right off the main road. Amazing biscuits and gravy and country friend steak big enough to share; plus the jam is 😋👌. Customizable mimosas by 16oz glass or by 32oz pitcher! Great for breakfast/ brunch dates, but limited seating for groups of more than 6. Fills fast!

  48. Scott Witherow

Best waffle and bacon I have had in A WHILE (besides my girl’s home cooking of course. Listen, I’m a simple guy. I like a thick Belgian style waffle and delicious thick cut bacon that is fully cooked but not crispy. This place DELIVERS. I was too hungry and too instantly impressed with the presentation to bother snapping a pic for you. Maybe next time, and there WILL be a next time.

  49. Sandra Butler

Not cheap, but very worth the wait and the price. Delicious, and as stated previously, get the cottage fries and try the homemade strawberry jam! My mom and I ended up going back every morning for breakfast the whole rest of the week. We ended up sharing a breakfast because they were so big there’s plenty for 2. Just ask for a second plate and share 😉

  50. Megan Smith

Had a date breakfast here with my hubby, and we were both so full and happy afterwards! The wait was a bit because this place is so good and popular. My eggs and waffle hit the spot! My husband’s coffee never got even half empty before it was refilled.

  51. iTz Lippyy

One of the best breakfast dishes I’ve ever had. (Vegetarian Benedict) Flew in from Maryland to visit and was recommended this place. Was not disappointed. From the atmosphere to the food. Will definitely come back!

  52. Jerrilyn Pierce

We’ve started to come here regularly because the food is great and so is the staff. It’s often the same people each time we’re there and they operate like a well-oiled machine!

  53. Mikah Rayne

Only place I prefer for breakfast and best in town. Love the omelettes and there fries not steak cut way but potato rounds way. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Be nice if they could expand or make other one.

  54. BulletProofed Studios

Stopped here by the recommendation of Andrew at Fingerswagger. Don’t take only my word but his too and the rest of the five star reviews on this restaurant!

First things first, I needed a fat breakfast after a two hour drive, a few cups of coffee and definetely a chicken fried steak. Well, due to recommendation I didn’t search for anything else, I came straight here no questions asked. I’m from Pasco so this is not a drill.

We had 3-4 families ahead of us and we were seated within 10 minutes despite how busy they were on a Tuesday morning, it was insane! I saw plates with amazing portions of food being served. I saw the waitresses going fast which was a very good sign. They were so nice, so sweet and very talkative with the customers! I was so happy to see this.

Upon being seated, Christy became our server. She is a beautiful sweet lady who was very courteous and patient with my mother and I. My mom is older so she’s a lot more picky than I am on service. She only understands Spanish but my mom understands good service in any language, and Christy did what not a lot of people can ever do.

I ordered the chicken fried steak with hash browns and over easy eggs. I got my mom the B.L.A. Omelet which looked absolutely insane. It looked sooo beautiful but don’t even get me started…

The housemade gravy on the chicken fried steak was so impeccably savory and full of flavor. Made so perfectly that the Tabasco and Fletcher Sauce couldn’t penetrate the incredible flavor! Now that’s a bulletproof gravy you got. 🤗

Second, going right below the surface of the gravy is the chicken fried steak itself. Wow, that thing is absolutely ridiculous. The sheer size, the girth, the heat, the gravy… yea, this is the reason why this exists. It’s gravy, it’s chicken. We get it. What else can I say? Just get it!

Third, the hash browns. Wow, were they hot and delicious! I don’t know where they get these but I swear, they were so fluffy like mashed potatoes on the inside and crispy on the outside! This is a consistency of hash brown is the kind that can only be spoken and discussed exclusively with potato enthusiasts. Now, I might be exaggerating a bit on the mashed potato part but they felt like so with me because of how hungry I was.

Fourth, the eggs were made perfectly. Nothing much to say about a perfectly well cooked pair of sunny side up yolks. Salt, pepper, and Fletcher Sauce.

Fifth, the coffee. It’s the perfect balance of strength! Fairly weak for my tastes but it still tasted amazing with the french vanilla creamer.

Sixth, Christy! Thank you for being awesome, attentive and talkative! You are a wonderful soul and I hope I get to see you again when I come back. I forgot the other ladies name who sat me but she was fantastic as well!

Seventh and last, the vibe. I didn’t have anyone looking at me funny. I didn’t hear yelling, babies crying, people laughing outrageously loud and any whining, which you will be charged $5 for if you do so. The environment of this restaurant alone is worth the visit. Everybody smiled. Not only that, but watching people eat makes me happy too. Enjoying big plates with family is what counts with the good service, the food, and the gravy. Please! The gravy!

I will be back soon with my entire family because I have to have them have it. It is amazing!

  55. Wade Fuson

We stopped in for breakfast, and of course had to wait. Typically I find this happens for a reason. If you have to wait it will be worth it, and it was. The biscuits are perfection, both our meals were the best!

Most important… the strawberry jam! Eat it there and buy a jar to take home. You will not regret it.

  56. Raianne Abrams

The Hearty Combo Meal amazing. To much. With a great price. They were on it once you were sitted. The service was great. I defiantly say you should try it!

  57. Clifford Abrams

Moved here from Cali. and drove past this place on the way to church. We decided to check it out the next weekend; We waited for a table about 30 min,, well worth the wait, after we were seated, even though they were busy, our order was taken almost immediately; food was brought to us in a short time. Portions for the price were good, and the taste was awesome. The staff was on point;, We will definitely be back.

  58. Caleb Ojennes

The food was amazing. I ordered the BTA Omlette and it was fantastic. My wife and brother both got the pancake, they make an amazing homemade whip cream and strawberry compote to go with the cake that is above and beyond the normal breakfast experience. To top it off our server Mandy was excellent and filled our coffee 4 times without us asking once. All my needs were met. Amazing!

  59. RJ Carlson

The staff is top notch. The food was delicious. The portions are large. Try the 🍓 strawberry jam. You might have to wait a little to get a seat, but it’s worth the wait.

  60. Ron LaMar

Had breakfast today and must say it lived up to all the hype. Very good biscuits and gravy, pancakes, omelettes, sausage and the wife loved her cinnamon coffee. Will be back.

  61. david schwab

Quaint little restaurant for breakfast and lunch fast, friendly service. I have only gone for breakfasts there but we always love it, you will probably be waiting for a table as it is very popular. Once seated everything is great. Get the cottage fries.

  62. Valenzuela Valenzuela

Wow, what a Disrespectful, Rude, disgusting place! First, cooks look like they just walked in off the street. Second, Hostess didn’t know how to talk. Third, there was a huge thrown pile of creamers scattered on the table in one big pile. Asked about the pile of creamers and the response I received was a laugh, and that ” we just throw them on the table since so many people use cream.” I don’t use cream. After I expressed my disgusting, they literally went around the restaurant to talk about me, while laughing, to other coworkers. Each one looked at me during the conversation, so it’s a fact. This place is hanging on by a thread. Never in my 40 years in this industry have I seen such a mess on a table, on purpose. Don’t waste your time. I would go to Dennys instead. At least they won’t price gouge you and over charge you for the same food. Trust me, you are not missing any thing

  63. Emily Himmelright

This is a dependable and pleasant diner experience. If you’re looking for comfort and excellent service, come here. Even when there’s a wait, it’s a lovely time; come early if you want to avoid it. Your food will be hot, taste good, and the staff are good at their jobs. Also, the strawberry jam is bomb.

  64. Erin Kerbs

The food and service is so good. There is always a way and it’s always packed, but it’s so worth it. Everything I’ve tried on the menu is perfection.

  65. Misty Lowe

Favorite place to go for breakfast with my mom ☺️😊 love the staff so nice and sweet !
    Recommend it!….💅🏽 🏽 🏽
