Our number one choice for Mexican cuisine in Anacortes. The food is fresh and tasty. The menu has several vegetarian options, and a few gluten free choices, as well. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and we enjoy our interaction with everyone who works there. It’s always a pleasure talking with the owner, Antonio. ❤’d the complimentary soup we had on our last visit.

  2. Kyler Romme

It’s a beautiful restaurant with the nicest staff. Not to mention the food is fast and so so sooooo tasty!

  3. John Grossglass

1/4/2022 saw them microwave meat in plastic container, steak in Fritos fajitas tasted microwaved and was rubbery, old fruit in margarita drinks, I should have took pictures the Cabbage they put my jalapeño on was brown so gross

Grumpy waiter, store bought chips, pre cooked chile relleno appetizer, bland, dry, fish tacos, and a chicken green salad with a tasteless dressing. Used to be a go to place for us. Third lousy experience this yeay and we’re done. Sad, because the owner is kind and genuine.

I thought the food was delicious. Both salsas served were excellent. My favorite part though was the wine list. It’s comprised of more wines from Mexico than I have seen on some of the most extensive lists in the nation. There’s a couple bottles from other countries in South America but mostly Mexico. It really makes this place unique. Plus I love a restaurant that is truly family owned and ran.

Food was ok, but heavy on rice and corn filler, very light on meat. The tamales in particular were nearly all corn meal. The shredded beef taco salad had only slightly more meat.

The waiter took a long time to serve us and neglected to bring chips. We had to ask for chips when he finally came to our table to promote their daily appetizer and entree specials. It felt like he withheld the chips with the hope of upselling the appetizer.

When the chips finally arrived they were served with two salsas (a red and a green salsa). Unfortunately, both were very spicy/hot. When we asked for mild salsa for the chips we were told they only have very hot salsas. I’ve never been to a Mexican restaurant that couldn’t accommodate a request for mild salsa. The overly spicy/hot salsa ruined that part of the meal for one of our party that can not tolerate spicy/hot food (and had specifically requested going to a Mexican restaraunt for chips and salsa).

After the meal was completed and we received the bill, the waiter said their computer was down and asked that we pay with cash. I paid with a hundred dollar bill. When the waiter picked up the cash he had the audacity to ask if I needed change. If I had said no he would have been getting a 35% tip!!! I asked for change and left a smaller tip more commensurate to the mediocre service and food.

All in all a disappointing experience. Not sure why this restaurant is getting such high ratings. It is highly unlikely that we will return.

Very rare Spanish colonial intimate ambiance
    Creative cuisine with great platings
    Large drink menu especially cocktails
Limited kids menu but good size
    Best for date nights

Authentic Mexican cuisine in a fantastic waterfront location. Places like this are hard to find. I particularly liked the Chiles en Nogado and Pollo Mole Poblano dishes. Every experience is a memorable one. Highly recommend to anyone wanting high quality Mexican cuisine and great service!

Pretty incredible food! We tried the lunch specials for the tamales with the guacamole and it was out of the world!

Our favorite Mexican restaurant..I love the chicken enchilada mole so much I can’t order anything else, pam feels the same way about the chicken enchilada sousa…both are consistently great

We love this restaurant! Delicious food (we had the chicken fajitas and the steak burrito fajita) and an extensive cocktail menu (I recommend both the blackberry and pomegranate margarita)
Friendly attentive staff and a cool, kitschy Frida theme. Complimentary tortillas with 2 yummy salsas.

  12. Bill Soroka

We enjoyed friendly service and delicious food. The menu is unique and interesting. A refreshing change for standard Mexican food. We can’t wait to come back to enjoy more.

  13. Todd Schlemmer

Nice selection of meatless options. The waiter/host is attentive, but if you try to pronounce the food you’re ordering, expect to be corrected.

This place is the best unique take on Mexican cuisine. Super impressive service and wildly original dining options. So good and can’t wait to get back.

I don’t remember the menu names of the dishes that we got but we got lamb tacos, skirt steak, and stuffed chicken breast. They were all amazing. The sauces are extraordinary. The specialty margaritas are very good too. The only thing I didn’t really care for was the guacamole because, for me, it had to much lemon. We had lemon cake, creme brulee cheesecake, and churros for dessert. The churros were my favorite. The lemon cake could have had more lemon flavor. Overall extremely happy. We will definitely be back, soon.
O yes, forgot to add.. Excellent service!! Fast and friendly. I don’t know what there is to not like about this place. The menu is extensive. Looking forward to trying more….

It doesn’t get any better than this! The tequila selection alone would rival any tequila shop in Mexico!! Service was amazing, food was even better and again, the tequila was very impressive!

We were greeted almost immediately by a very friendly gal that came back quickly to take our drink orders. She was very knowledgeable about the tequila’s and helped us make our selection. We ordered tequila and two different margaritas, one being the Ultimate Margarita which was probably the best I’ve ever had! I wish I could remember the names of the tequila, we ordered two extra anejo’s, and they were both so smooth and spicy at the same time!

Another lovely, friendly gal brought our drinks out and also took our food order. Again, she was super knowledgeable of the menu and was able to answer all of our questions with ease and familiarity. I wanted both black beans and refried beans mixed together and her answer was absolutely, best of both worlds! Nothing phased her and she smiled the entire time!

Our food arrived quickly but not too quickly! Sometimes at Mexican restaurants it seems like it comes out way too fast to be freshly made. This took just the right amount of time and it was nice and piping hot! Let me just say, it was absolutely phenomenal! Every single bite of everything on the plate was delicious! I had the Camarones Gilberto Aceves which was the best camarones dish I’ve ever had and hubby had the Chiles en Nogada which was super unique and different. The sign says gourmet and they mean gourmet! We shared the lemon cake for dessert and it was also delicious!

I highly recommend Frida’s and will definitely return if in the area! This is a true gem of a restaurant and Anacortes is lucky to have them!

Best Pork tacos I have ever had. The pork tacos made my day better, and the service was excellent. Very kind people and very good food. Best combination out there

  18. Vince Manduchi

Good food displayed nicely. Other than that gourmet is a stretch

Most terrible place in the world! I asked a young waitress 19 how her day was when she brought me my food and in the middle of my conversation the owner yelled at her for not being instantly in the front table room. What a horrible man in the summer months to yell at someone who is providing great customer service. The owner should be ashamed of himself and apologize to that 19 year old girl! She does not deserve to be around a horrible abusive man!

  20. Kristin Tolle

An unplanned, but excellent experience! And they aren’t kidding about the gourmet menu. This isn’t your fast food Mexican place, this is a sit down fine dining experience. We will definitely be back.

  21. Dani Ela

I love the decor! Stunning. We got micheladas which aren’t on the menu but iykyk! The steak tacos and taco salad with ground beef was delicious. Would recommend and there is ample 2-hr free street parking around. Service was great. Loved our booth by the window, it was a vibe to sit on the bench with pillows!

  22. Angelo Tsou

Wow! We really enjoyed this place. From the ambient atmosphere and really nice decor to the very flavorful food. The service was pretty good and it was the owners, busy as can be, so we understood. They delivered our drinks, appetizers, and food with a smile and were very friendly. It was my fiancee’s daughter’s 14th birthday the day before and mom wanted to treat her and the family and it was birthday girl’s choice restaurant. I never heard of this restaurant but was so glad we went. If you’re tired of the regular Norteno style Mexican cuisine, you’ll be very impressed with this delicious gourmet Mexican menu.

  23. C P

Great place for authentic Mexican food. The restaurant had nice decor and the staff were very attentive. They had a few vegetarian options with great margaritas.

  24. Jean Nissen

Delicious burritos, yummy chili ancho margaritas and outstanding, friendy service. We’ve been hoping to visit this place for some time based on reviews (and we enjoy Mexican food overall) but we usually arrive on a later ferry alter closing time. We finally made it and what a treat! Not your typical Mexican restaurant, but a step above. What a delightful find!!

  25. Maechen Heitzman

Loved out experience. Our host was very attentive and friendly. My partner said his mole blanco was one of his top favorite dishes ever!! Don’t forget to try the guacamole with flautas. Highly recommend.

  26. Ty Chanthachame

This place was delicious. Best mole I’ve ever had and the chiles Mathias goeritz was fantastic. Our server Jose was amazing, polite and funny. Definitely glad we missed our ferry.

  27. Danielle Miller

A different take on your typical Mexican food, which I very much appreciated. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely eat here again.
