Friendly service, fun atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. We dined outside and enjoyed the sun. Loved that they had corn hole to play.
Kid and pet friendly.
This place was amazing! We got dinner first in the restaurant before going out to the beer garden to enjoy the live music. My friends and I split the fish and chips, the burger, and the pulled pork sandwich, and everything was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, Susan was one of the nicest servers I’ve ever met. We will definitely be back very soon!
Fun place! Live music, great people, excellent atmosphere
A lot of fat in chicken burger and fries.
Not the best choice.
Always a great place to have dinner and a beer
I loved the friendly vibe in this place. They have a unique way of filling your glass of beer (from the bottom up). We had fried pickles, fries, and egg rolls. The first two get my recommendation. My IPA was delicious. I want to go back for a more substancial meal, cuz the guy qith the burger beside us looked so happy.
Very good fish & chips, one order can fill two people
Great atmosphere in the Beer Garden. Yum Fish n Chips
Cute little tap house with a really nice patio with a water view. Friendly staff & live music on Saturday night. The food was good pub food I would not recommend the “Tot”chos to anyone with heart issues. Lol. But they were fantastic!
Great place now they have a beer garden and soon a speak easy.y go to place
We only went here because the Italian place across the street was PACKED, and we didn’t want to wait
It was not bad. Clean, nice place. We sat on the upstairs patio, which was comfortable.
Our server did a good job. Large beer selection, mostly bottles. And the food was good.
The food was good however the waitresses will do anything not to help you they look/ walk away and when we went to get out food a couple had left before getting seated because no one would help them! Needs better service! I have also dined in before and they also took forever to come to table to see if we needed anything and to get the check
Fun place, good food, and great service. Just passing through for work and visited two nights in a row.
They have a beautiful view of the bay and sunset. Food is good, reasonably priced, and a large selection of beer. A band plays out on the patio on weekends. We would definately go back.
Great food, and staff. We enjoyed live music. The atmosphere was lovely.
Great fish and chips. Large beer selection.
Enjoyed the pulled pork, good wine(cab) and excellent beer. Service was good even though they were busy.
Good food good service And Welcome my service dog . highly recommend this restaurant . great prices
Poutine bowl, fish and chips, peace arch prawns
Friendly casual environment with super tasty food and a great beer selection! It’s one of our new favorites. And those sidewinder fries are so good!
I had my first experience with their food, in short my tower burger was the best burger I have ever had. All of the other “gourmet” burger places in the county better watch out. Also the fries were great. I will be back.
Trivia night on Monday night!
I visited Gateway 1890 on a Thursday evening with my wife and her two sisters. The restaurant was moderately busy with ample seating. Our server was absolutely FANTASTIC! She offered us samples of what was on tap and did not seem to mind allowing us to identify the drafts we finally selected. Our food choices were pot stickers, a burger, salad and poutine. All of which was wonderful and very tasty. Our meals were served quickly and hot. I was very impressed with this place and would recommend it to anyone and I plan on going back!
Great choices on tap, with interesting tap-filling system! Really nice place to catch the game and enjoy a beverage.
Ask for Megan, she’s super sweet and always has a great smile
Beer and food was great and had a great time!
Got the burger. It was good, nothing to write home about, but good. The service and atmosphere definitely made up for it. I do look forward to going back again and trying other menu items
Good overall experience! Had few options for vegetarians.
Our food and service was good. Nice selection of alcoholic beverages. Ample parking. The restaurant was really cold so would recommend turning the heat up.
Great new menu items
Would like a more varied menu
Typical bar food and pretty blah. Had a $15 burger cooked to the consistency of an old combat boot. Others seemed to like the wings. Plenty of beer varieties. My biggest complaint with all these places is an overly large menu done mediocre instead of a smaller menu done well.
Great burgers great service. Someone from the kitchen ordering the truck sitting at the bar was very nice and answered random questions we had will be going back
Portions and pricing were great, service was amazing, and they welcomed us in half hour to close. Everything was delicious
I’m out filming the City of Blaine, was served by Skylar, learned a little about the town. Great experience overall. If you’re in Blaine and seeking waterfront views, this is an excellent spot! Check out my YouTube channel @dank_traveller for a walk though video.
Very nice atmosphere partly having sea view and naturally smiling waitress, large selections of beer including craft beer.
I cross the peach arch border from South Surrey, very near to Peach arch border, next time I will just walk across the border after parking my vehicle in the peach arch parking lot, rather than in waiting line.
I wish they put wifi pass word in the menu or wall so that clients from northern neighbor can use internet before asking busy waitresses.
BALT with craft beer were very choice.
Fourth time going to the Taphouse all the meals have been awesome. Had the mushroom Swiss burger, pulled pork sandwich, deep fried pickles and tonight the meatloaf. The server was amazing and a day after her birthday cheerful and helpful. Joined the mug club a great deal if you decide to join. Can’t wait for the speakeasy to open up. Good job Gary and crew!!!
Love their food and beer. Good service, so happy they joined our community.
Came to this spot while doing a day drive around the Sound and Cascades with a friend. Our server (Skylar, I think was his name) was great. Attentive, but not overbearing. The interior was clean and newly renovated but welcoming and comfortable. Great selection of beer on-tap.
We started with a plate of chicken wings, which came out hot and fresh. Skin crispy and fat rendered, meat succulent, and the hot honey garlic sauce was delicious.
I got the burger with bacon added, as a good burger is usually indicative as to the quality of the rest of the menu. I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed. Soft but chewy bun, meat had a nice char on the outside but a little pink in the middle, bacon was crispy and veggies were spot on (lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickle, exactly how I like it). The burger as a whole was juicy and dripped a bit as you’d expect, but the bun didnt get soggy and it held together quite well.
The fries they serve are more like jojos but curled a bit instead of a wedge shape. Tasty, and I’d be curious to see contraption that cuts them that way. I do wish I had gotten a salad as a substitute though, after some wings, the burger and two beers, I was stuffed.
My friend got the schnitzel dinner, it came with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and a salad. It looked excellent.
I’m excited to come back and try different dishes, and I’ll recommend this place if I know if anyone coming up that way.
They served the best burger I’ve had, in Whatcom county. I don’t enjoy most burger joints, but this has the most flavorful beef patties.
Very nice place and well-lit, which is a big deal for folks that might have a hard time in dimly lit restaurants. The fish and chips , and poutine were excellent! Shout out to Skylar, he was great at suggesting brews and was very interested in my feedback . 10/10 will return and try some of the other dishes and beers so I can collect some more magnets!
Great experience with my family. Food tastes great and service was so friendly and fast. so clean with the decoration of 50’s diners .
If you passed the border, definitely stop by for refreshment at this nice location
You need to try the Gateway 1890 Taphouse. Fish and chips are the go-to choice. Get a flight of beers to try different beers.
Kinda like a sizzler in a mall but it’s not in a mall. Food was pretty good service was great, overall I dug it.
Great fries, salad, and vege burger.
This was an absolutely great place the food was delicious the service was fantastic and beautiful view.
Everything was delicious and presented well. The service was impeccable, welcoming, and enjoyable. It was very clean and bright. We enjoyed lunch there, brought the whole family! Burgers were juicy, the fish and chips (sidewinder fries – these are awesome)the portions were just right, the fried pickles accompanied by a cayenne ailole was on point Highly recommend! We will be returning for sure!
Went for the food and they were out of their regular hand cut fries and gave us a frozen mix of crinkle cut and steak fries in tiny pieces.
Decent decent service and food
Great food, great service, Michelle was amazing!
Anyone going to Blaine should stop by the Gateway Taphouse for a drink and a bite to eat.
We had so much fun playing Trivia on Monday night! We are new to the area, and this will be our regular spot. Great pub food! Great service! Everyone is very friendly.
I really really hate writing bad reviews. The staff was great actually sorry great but the food was not good. The fish with the fish and chips was super mushy. The chicken nuggets for the kids were so bad. I mean the worst chicken nuggets I have ever tried. The people working there have to know that those nuggets were from the 80’s frozen in time. The nuggets were disgusting. We will not be back but for future customers get them something better.
Great place for good food and many types of beer
A wonderful little taphouse in Blaine. Stop in and catch them on a day when they have some menu deals. That’ll serve you well. A small menu of food, but a huge menu of beers from all over.
Indoor and outdoor seating. Live bands on Saturdays. Trivia on Mondays. Lots of good beer
Hostess was friendly and awesome with our kiddo. Atmosphere was fun, but they were out of Burgers, Fish, and pulled pork. Spent $23+ tax on 11 shrimp. We will give it a second try because stuff happens but hoping for a better dinner.
The food is good (everything can use improvement). The live music is a great touch. The wait staff has been wonderful every time my family and I have been. No complaints on my end. Although I would like to see a bigger selection of nonalcoholic beverages.
Love the place
Friendly service, fair prices, huge portions, good specials, and a great selection of beer made for a good visit. The meals we had were the fish which was good, Pulled pork which was excellent, and taco salad which was fine. Definitely coming back in the future for on of their delicious looking burgers.
This place has great food, it was amazing. It’s definitely a hole in the wall but worth every penny.
Good service, friendly staff. Large selection of beers. Food was well prepared and tasty.
Great view, good menu, good drinks & would recommend for waterfront pub experience.
Loved our first visit here. The fish & chips were good. Wait staff were excellent. Everyone super friendly.
I had the fish and chips and a Kilt Lifter. The fish was so fresh. The batter was very good, not too greasy. The bottom pour for the beer is brilliant!
The sidewinder seasoned fries were sooo tasty. Added a lager and some live music and it was a perfect stop on the way home!
First-time visitors. The food was good pub style. Service was prompt and friendly. The place was clean.
Good atmosphere 😸
Great new place. Atmosphere is fun. Indoor and outdoor seating. Servers are great. Food is wonderful (great fish and chips!). Big TVs for sports.
Just across the USA/Canada border on the USA side. Poutine was great, the tower burger huge, mushroom and chicken schnitzel great comfort food!
Great food and super friendly service. The fish n chips are really good except for a small softness on the final battered fish. The trains get a little loud but it’s fun to watch with kids and if you like watching them pass.
Our favorite restaurant in Blaine. Burgers are excellent. Great service. Owner is friendly. Trivia night is our family favorite😊
This place is a must visit. The fish and chips are the best. Our server was really friendly and had an awesome personality. It was a lovely lunch.
Love the food and drinks here it’s my favorite local spot
Nice, easy spot to stop in or meet friends. Even better since they added the small balcony upstairs and the casual patio downstairs for outdoor options. The live music was nice too.
The staff was very attentive. The fish and chips were delicious. Coleslaw was not quite what I’m used to. More garlicky than sweet. Not a fan. The decor was very interesting and it brought in that home town feel, where you felt very connected to the community. The experience overall, was great.
I liked the atmosphere and service
Way over priced, but good food and environment.
First time for me. If I am ever in area again, I will be back. Great service!
Great stop in Blaine! Great food and beer. Trivia, music and events are alot of fun for everyone.
