Stopped in for lunch and was very satisfied. The portions in the combination platters are large. Good deal! Will visit here again.
We’re very lucky to have such terrific Mexican food with great service in Covington. Their home-made tortillas are to die for.
Super delicious, including the tortilla chips!!!! Tasted authentic 😋
Great queso! Needs a standalone fajita nachos dish, though.
Fajita Burrito … enough said
👎WORST SERVICE & FOOD EVER👎We will never eat here again. Huband & I sat in bar after 10 minutes had to wave down bartender. Another 20 min before she came & took our order. We asked foe extra chips none came. We ordered Fajita it came out on a cold plate & was not hot! Bartender kept going to 1 booth 10 + tines in our 11/2 hr time, she came 3 time 2 of which I had to flag her down.
Puerto Vallarta Family Mexican restaurant is a really great place for taking a family or hanging out in the bar. It is not a quiet place but that works for me. Lots of people having a great meal, enjoying the company of friends and family, and enjoying good Mexican food served quickly and with pride. Since I no longer have young children, I prefer the bar. The service is incredible. The waitstaff is attentive and really nice! They treat you like a regular and they treat regulars with smiles and sometimes even a joke. The carne asada is really tasty and plentiful. The other items on the menu that I have eaten have all been really good. Mind you, their menu is what we have become accustomed to with most Mexican restaurants–there are no unique or specifically regionally dishes like Chapulines (grasshoppers), Pan de Yema (Oaxacan sweet bread), or Tasajo (thin sliced beef), but the food is really good, high quality, and plentiful.
Food was bad gone down hill
Food was tasty, I had pork carnitas. Very tender and well flavored. The fried chicken was tasty as well, but arrived cold. The order was fixed but with fewer pieces of chicken… staff was friendly and helpful.
Good food at reasonable prices. Portions are large enough that we both had leftovers to take home.
Went here with family after a funeral, the food was incredibly bland and the carne asada burrito barely had any meat in it: it was mostly beans and rice. Considering the food costs over $20.00, you’d think they could do better. To top it off, later one of our family members got sick from food poisoning. Would not recommend.
Ordered a taco salad with beef. Had to send it back when I found shrimp in it. The margarita I ordered was tasteless.
Quality has definitely gone down in my view. I used to rate this restaurant as top notch, great homemade food with flavor for days. Homemade tortillas that reminded me of the ones my grandma made. They even had an abuelita making them at the front. This was pre-Covid. Now though, apparently it’s OK to sub store bought tortillas instead of making more – or, going to Costco next door and picking up the raw tortilla dough they sell in the refrigerated section. We ordered pollo en pena, taquitos, chips, guac, extra beans and rice, and a dozen tortillas to share. Imagine my surprise when we received tortillas that can be bought at any store, were tasteless, and honestly made the food taste bad.
The side of guacamole was laughable and particularly ridiculous; maybe 2 tablespoons for nearly 5 dollars. We ordered delivery, and it was surprisingly hot, but that’s about all that can be said with a positive note regarding our dinner tonight.
I called the store after realizing I had store-bought tortillas to see if they just no longer offered homemade, and it was explained to me they were really busy and had to substitute. I’d rather have them call me like other places and advise they’re sold out, and offer the choice… I am pretty sure we won’t be going back. This place used to be a great date night for us. Sorely disappointed.
Worst place ever, food was groose. Got sick the next day from eating there. Had one margarita tasted like water with sugar.
We we’re told the manager was going to come out and acknowledge our concerns. No one show up, there’s no napkins on the table, didn’t bring us any silverware to eat our food. We had to ask and waited for it.
The staff was so unprofessional.
My hubby food was so bad, he left most of his food on the table.
I would not recommend this place at all.
Great food. Awesome margarita. Staff was super friendly.
Michelada was great but waited over an hour for food and nothing. Ordered shrimp and enchiladas… very disappointed.
I won’t lie, we were very impressed with this visit. We’ve visited other branches in the past and have never been super happy with experience. This was FANTASTIC! I got the Tacos Supremos and loved it. The shrimp fajitas were delicious & my kids loved their enchilada & burrito too! The salsa & chips to start hit the perfect spot. The server was great & perfectly attentive. Our waters never ran empty!
Kid-friendliness: They have small kids menus with Mexican cuisine as well as American. They give crayons with the menus for simply “draw on the paper” activities. Not the best kids menu for entertainment, but at least they offer something! The server didn’t seem bothered by the kids & interacted with them wonderfully.
Not impressed, server never asked if we wanted refills, how are food was, did we need anything else. Flavor not that great. Kind of dirty
I enjoyed my lunch. The burrito was so big my friend could only 1/2 and she can eat. The waite staff was very friendly.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times with my boyfriend and had an amazing time so I took my two girlfriends who had never been here before and the waitress was so mad the entire time. I told My friends aww it seems like she’s having a bad day. I know how it is so we were going to leave an extra tip. But she proceeds to be rude to us the entire time. I order a tostada salad and it comes out with no tortilla so we kindly wave down a dif waitress because our waitress seems like she is dealing with a lot. So the second waitress takes my food away and then brings back the exact same plate one minute later. These people are very busy so I decide I will just deal with it. And I eat it. And Then our original waitress comes back to the table and leans over my table. Sooooo unnecessarily close to my face and loudly asks if my FOOD is better this time. Sorry you had a bad day but you don’t need to take it out on your customers. I really loved this restaurant.
They could not make quesadillas or a vegetarian taco and out of IPA beers. Margaritas were watered-down.
Love the Mexican coleslaw and the Polo carnitas but it tends to take a while for the check, update food tends to not be consistent but I do like their Vallarta burrito as a matter of fact it’s pretty much the only thing I’ll order there
The best micheladas.
Pork carnitas and fajitas are 👍
The quality of service and most importantly food has decreased so much over the last year here ! This is typical our favorite Mexican restaurant because it’s close and we love the trash cans ! We normally order the super nachos and lately they have not been so “super” they have cut in almost 1/3 from the usual we used to get. I don’t mind paying $20 for carne asada nachos because everything is going up in price but to receive a portion almost a 1/3 The regular amount when paying $8+ just for the carne asada to be added is really crazy. It hasn’t been one , twice or 3 times. It’s been several times. The only reason we come back is for the trash cans. Once I find a new restaurant with such drink we will not be back.
We had the worse nachos here on Wednesday. Everything was soggy and barely eatable.
The Cancun platter is a complete hit and they’re blended strawberry margaritas are very tasty.
Chipotle shrimp 🍤 5 stars
Ordered Carne Asada Tacos, menu says Topped with Avocado Slices, onions and cilantro. But instead I got brown (warm) guacamole and pico! I can’t eat tomatoes! Tacos laying on wet shredded lettuce and soggy on the bottom. Call the restaurant and (Jos) doesn’t even care, not listening. She should learn to communicate with people and in the restaurant industry that includes the KITCHEN so that this doesn’t happen again. If the cook can’t serve items as they are on the menu, that’s a problem. Especially with food allergies
Drinks were great! The food was cold. The nacho nplate we got was completely soggy. You could not pick up the chips to eat. When I asked about the nacho they said “that is how they make it”.
We were served salsa that was spoiled. They did replace upon our request, but tells you the food quality levels.
