Delicious food and great service! So glad we found this place. This is what we think of when we want Mexican food. Atmosphere, chips and salsa, bar, table service, and flavor!!

  2. Kori Klaue

Always excellent! Great food, wonderful friendly service and even though we are all wearing masks I can see the smile in their eyes!

  3. Edwin Weber

Quality menu with great Mexican options. Great for lunch or dinner.

Best Arroz con Pollo that I’ve ever had, and one of the most comforting meals in my life.

I’d also like to add that I brought some up to my mom, who was in the hospital with her health failing. I brought up the same dish, Arroz com Pollo, that I had enjoyed so much here, to share with her and my dad, I didn’t know at the time, but had my worries that turned out to be unfortunately correct, it was the last meal that I got to share with her in this life. She loved it, we laughed and shared stories and memories before I had to return home to Montana, planning to come back to visit her again in 2 weeks. It was not to be unfortunately.

You, the owners and staff here, should know that this meal meant a lot to me and brought my mom comfort and happiness. People often take food service workers for granted, I don’t and I never will. If you think restaurant work is unimportant, or low-value work, I’d kindly ask that you think again, my mom was at the end of what modern medical science could do to help her body, and your food helped her soul, something that is hard for the medial world to do, it helped my family share a comfortable moment in one of the most uncomfortable of times.

    Thank you,
From the bottom of my heart.
    Gracias,
desde el fondo de mi corazón.

Superior service and yummy food! Corona Rita’s were bomb. I got the chicken carnitas and would recommend!

  6. Gordon Kirk

I’ve been frequenting this neighborhood Mexican Restaurant for a decade. Incredibly tasty lunch and drink specials with something for everyone. Friendly staff welcome you with a smile a chips and salsa fresh from the kitchen. Have your next Fiesta with family at Rancho Viejo

We recently moved to the valley, so my daughter & I came here for dinner to see if this could become our new Mexican restaurant. I will start by saying that the food itself is good. We both got the #42. Which was 2 chimichangas with rice & beans. $56 for what we got, plus a root beer & iced tea, felt like highway robbery, even enlight of everything going on since covid started! What was on our plates should be no more than $18.00.
If you’re going to charge 2.49 for a glass of iced tea/water & tea bag flavoring, at least make it taste good, because it had none. Our waiter was very friendly & accommodating! The girls standing inside the front door, however, definitely need to be reminded that they should be making the customers feel welcome when they walk in!
We’ll go back to give it another shot. But we will definitely be trying other Mexican restaurants to see how they compare.

Great food as always. They do not hold back. And they do not complain when asked if a plate can be split between two people! Great service by great people!

  11. Troy Reit

The service was excellent. It’s a traditional Mexican restaurant inside. The food was just okay. I had a fiesta salad that sounded great on the menu but was less than good on the plate. The chips were decent, and once we asked we got some decently spicy salsa.

We arrived in between lunch and dinner. It was a slow time. We hadn’t eaten anything for the day, so we were *starving*. The hostess led us to a booth, then just flipped the menus onto the table and kept on walking. Weird.
The chips were warm but not super fresh, and the salsa was fairly good. We ordered a cheese crisp as an appetizer and I ordered a chimichanga and my husband ordered a burrito.
The cheese crisp that arrived was an absolute joke. Must have been 6-8 inches in diameter and was $13. A real cheese crisp should be at least twice that size. In hindsight, we should have sent it back.
The main course arrived and my chimi was just slightly bigger than the frozen burritos you get at the grocery store. It was covered by a handful of lettuce and a glob of sour cream and another of avocado. The meat inside was tasteless.
My husband’s burrito was huge, but mostly stuffed with rice. There was already plenty of rice on his plate, he didn’t need more in his burrito. Plus side was, both plates were piping hot.
With a soda & horchata the bill came to $55. Pretty expensive for what you get.
I grew up in Arizona, where the best Mexican food in the US is. Rancho Viejo needs a lot of improvements to reach that level.

Fantastic food, big servings, salsa was on point and so was the staff. We were seated right away and maybe 20 minutes later our party of 18 was all eating at the same time.

  14. Joe Marsha Urlacher

Super delicious arroz con pollo. Mild salsa and chips that I can’t find anywhere else!!

  15. Kathy Spencer

Wasn’t as good as usual, they must have been low on red and green pepper for their chicken and steak fajitas.

  16. Robert C

Good food, friendly but not really attentive staff for my experience…so they earn a 4/5 otherwise I would eat there again.

  17. Keith Horning

I love Rancho Viejo! The food always tastes great. I’ve picked several different items and everything has always tasted great. They also have the best Cadillac margaritas!

  18. Lara M

Great place and food. Service is always quick and courteous. 4 stars because I requested no onions, in both English and Spanish, but found onions in the bottom of my taco salad

  19. Mario Madrigal

The food is authentic and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming! They have good portion sizes, i left with leftovers.
It is a tad expensive, which is a pretty big drawback but if you can get over that, you will not be disappointed!

  20. jennifer dorman

I go every Tuesday with my coworkers for taco Tuesday they have the best tacos. And the salsa is to die for. The staff are always super friendly. Highly recommend for good Mexican food

We were in town for the birth of our grandson. We needed food after a long day and happened upon Rancho Viejo after a few other familiar places were packed.
We were very happy we found it. I was born and raised in Phoenix so I’m picky about my Mexican food. The food and atmosphere was great. We will definitely be back!

This is a great restaurant. The food is always delicious. The service is excellent and the food always comes out quickly. What more can someone ask for?

  27. GoneJeepin Cherokee

A-lot of food to choose from they’re plates are huge food was delicious will go there again(I will choose Hangrys over it)

  28. Stephanie Anthony

We have been coming in here for years bc we live close, but I’m sorry I’m fed up with the middle aged waitress in the bar who acts like she’s disgusted to wait on us and is pretty much a b**** until she brings the check you get a half smile, I like to tip my server well, sorry for the many years of loyalty but there’s other mexican places where I’m treated with respect

  29. Clifford Phillips

My wife and sons enjoyed their food, but mine was not up to previous experience.

Both the chili verde and chili colorado were watery, and rather bland. The chile relleno was rubbery, and the pepper was old and stale tasting.

I will try them again, as every place can have an off night.

  30. Eric Sherod

I would have to say I was expecting more Elegance with especially considering help expensive this place is to get what I consider in my own opinion in which the factual to be slop not worth the money the seats are uncomfortable and the people are seated too closely together for my own comfort plain bathrooms cool paintings very very comfortable seating and a long ways out to the valley

  31. kevinpoc

I had the molcajete. It was fantastic 👏 I lived in Guadalajara and this was the closest to authentic that I’ve had. I would highly recommend giving it a try! The service was excellent also.

  32. Dale I

My family went recently to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I had the Enchilladas De Espinacas, two corn tortillas stuffed with spinach, mushrooms, onions and cottage cheese. Topped with melted cheese, green sauce and sour cream. Served with rice and beans. I had them add shrimp and it was fantastic! They have some very killer freshly homemade beans with their rice as well. We need to come here more often!

  33. Aundi A. Garcia

The staff will try everything to make sure you get your order right. The music, atmosphere, and decor really sell it. Would definitely recommend for some good sized portions and reasonable prices!

  34. Levi Fletcher

Menu did not state that peanuts were included in a dish. As we left for the hospital the waitress was very rude and acted like we were faking to not have to pay. Would not recommend.

  35. kimberlie price

My family and I have been dining here for nearly 20 years. It’s where everyone wants to go for their birthday. The food and people are awesome.
