Overall good sushi, more authentic than the generic sushi that’s in town.

Was prepared for hiccups since they just opened but everything was great. Expect to come back weekly.

Sumo Sushi is a masterpiece of both aesthetics and taste. The restaurant’s tranquil ambiance, complete with soft lighting and soothing music, sets the mood for an elegant dining experience.

The sushi here is nothing short of exceptional, showcasing the chef’s precision and dedication. The sashimi practically melts in your mouth, and the rolls are as beautiful as they are delicious.

What sets Sumo Sushi apart is the chef’s ability to balance flavors and textures, creating a symphony in every dish. It’s a place where you not only savor sushi but also appreciate it as an art form.

An authentic Japanese restaurant in Bonney Lake? Nice. Came here for lunch. Got Inari, some Blue Fin Toro, Chirashi, and a Bento Box. Absolutely delicious and the rolls tasted like the ones my grandmother makes. Will definitely be frequenting this place.

I’m the local shop owner! Here’s so much gooooood!! Finally I can eat real sushi and sashimi nearby my home!

Sumo Sushi offers a delightful combination of quality and affordability. Their lunch specials are a real steal, allowing you to indulge in a variety of sushi without emptying your wallet.
The rainbow roll, adorned with an array of fresh fish, is a true crowd-pleaser. What makes Sumo Sushi special is not just the food but also the warm hospitality.
Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a newbie, Sumo Sushi is a place where you can relish every bite and every moment.

  7. Rachel Hazen

The best sushi place in the area. Rivals pricier places on the Eastside.

The good: The albacore tuna roll was excellent. Miso soup was delicious. Overall food was good.
The bad: The Bonney Lake roll was slimy and fishy. The hostess did not allow us to wait for our table inside the restaurant. She requested we wait in our car. That has NEVER happened to me. It took 30 minutes for us to get water! 😱 They missed placing the order for one of my kids, so she started eating 15 minutes after us. They don’t have their liquor license yet and did not have Ramen available to order.
Realizing they just opened and have some kinks to work out, so maybe we will try again in a couple of months.

When time is of the essence, Sumo Sushi comes to the rescue. Here, sushi is not just fast food; it’s fast and fantastic food. The spicy salmon rolls, with their perfectly balanced heat, are a standout. What makes Sumo Sushi a go-to spot is not only the speed but also the quality. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are on point. It’s a place where you can satisfy your sushi cravings without compromising on taste or budget. Sumo Sushi proves that fast food can indeed be fabulous.

Finally, a delicious sushi spot nearby my family. We used to have to drive all the way to Tacoma or Seattle for *decent* sushi, and now we can get amazing sushi in Bonney Lake. I really wanted to try their Otoro, but someone unfortunately forgot to take it out of the freezer yesterday, so there was none thawed. The server was very kind about it and even discounted our bill for the inconvenience. I settled for the Chutoro, and it was better than most Otoro I’ve tried since moving to Washington. We ordered steamed gyoza, calamari rings, a Washington roll, an Albacore roll, an avocado roll, Chutoro, and a Masago Gunkan. Everything was done right, down to the Nori (seaweed) preparation. The service was also top-notch. My wife and I will definitely be regulars.

Service was great as we entered. Very prompt and they cleaned the high chair before giving it to us which is nice. As we ordered, I became distracted by a man outside the window leaning on my truck while on the phone. The waitress said “oh that’s my boss, I’ll say something to him”. The food was OK, but the tuna we had was all grey and had an off flavor. We told staff and she said “sorry about that” and then dis nothing about it… I don’t think we’ll be returning.

Just made an order to go. Staff was super friendly, and the food is legit! Much better than the other local sushi place. Will be my new sushi spot for sure

My family absolutely loved it, I was not a fan. I am a picky eater and can’t do crab. Most of the rolls have crab in them so that was a bit disappointing. Service was good, place was clean.

I’m absolutely shocked that a sushi establishment of this caliber is now all the way south in Bonney Lake. This is actually high quality sushi rivaling what you find up north in Bellevue/Redmond.

Atmosphere: calm warm wood colors and paneling
Was not super busy at 3:30pm on a Saturday
The place filled up around 4:00pm but it wasn’t super loud, good acoustics.

The food was excellent quality. My friends and I ordered a little bit of everything to try. The yakisoba had a great charred hint to it. The pork katsu bento had fantastic breading on it. The takoyaki was mouth burning hot and fresh (A+), and the chirashi bowl was to die for. Normally I’m not a big fan of salmon cuts in my bowls but they thin sliced the salmon which made the texture much more enjoyable.

I’m absolutely ecstatic to be eating quality Chirashi bowls again without having to drive hours north to the city. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Tried Sumo for the first time, good sushi. Quick to sit down….it was packed.
Felt a little rushed to get out at the end and honestly couldn’t seem to wonder if the lady wearing black gloves was changing them after she cleaned the tables, when she handed food and drinks to everyone. Perception is everything- wearing gloves says to me that you’re not washing your hands every time you handle a dirty dish or a washrag.
The place seemed way too busy to stop and find a manager.
Food was still really good and everyone was friendly. I wish they had built a larger establishment.
We will try again for sure.

Absolutely blown away! They are new so slightly slow, but not any slower than a typical sushi restaurant. They’re doing a great job for the price. Without a doubt, best bang for your buck in BL
