Great little restaurant with view of the marina. Fresh local seafood choices included Willapa Bay clams, tuna, and rockfish or salmon fish and chips.
Great chefs, kind folk, cute pub.
Excellent steamer clams and clam chowder.
Great location, with a fun industrial flair. Salt puts the ‘alt’ in hip alternative stays.
Honestly heartbreaking to write this review as we couldn’t stay due to health concerns, e.g. flickering lights, loud noises, and strong mildew. (We have no reason to think some of these are problems in other rooms.) But other then that this place is a find! The service was amazing and you can’t beat the location. The loud noise was due to awesome pub music, but triggered a migraine. If you want a fun adventurous place to stay, consider adding a little Salt to your next coastal getaway.
Amazing food, and great customer service
The best and freshest clam chowder I’ve ever had!! And the staff was amazing… Oh and the drinks, very tasty!
best clam chowder!
Certainly a good place to stay if you’re going to get up and go fishing out of Ilwaco Bay I strongly suggest you choose this place they also have really good food.
The crew here were extremely on their toes, even though they were under stuffed they were able to makes our evening a vey pleasent one. We look forward to making another trip to enjoy another awesome sun setting meal with my best friend. Outings like this, well, she always makes me cook dinner …
We only ate at the pub, but what a great surprise. Far better service, and even better food than anticipated. I only wish we had eaten there twice on our trip; we had some misses as well as this hit. Great food, wonderful salad, soups, mains, desserts and sweet service. Can’t ask for more.
I feel bad but our server who was super nice got like every point of our order wrong, forgot items, gave items to the wrong table and put my food under a heat lamp for 30 minutes to the point is was dried out and burn to a crisp.
The staff was really nice but the food was incredibly disappointing. I got the clam chowder and it was anything but clam chowder. It was flavorless, no cream, but still think. My friend got pork tacos and it tasted like the meat was soaked in brown sugar for a few days. Cute location and again, very friendly staff.
Stayed at Salt Hotel 5 days. Ate at Salt Pub every one of those days. Seating all outside due to Covid-19. Picnic tables out back overlooking the harbor. Food was fantastic; loved the Cubano sandwich, Mac and cheese with Dungeness crab, clam chowder with fresh steamed clams and a really lovely hot berry cobbler with vanilla bean ice cream. All so yummy. Wait staff all professional and friendly. Enjoy your meal!
Clam chowder amazing! Gotta go back soon
Food was decent staff was nice but prices were outrageous never paid 20$ for bowl of soup no matter how good it was guess I’ll never know
Tasty food all around. 10/10 will eat here again
Every time we go to the Long Beach peninsula, we. Try to stop here to eat. Portions are BIG, REALLY GOOD, and served with a smile. Nice outside and inside view of the harbor and hundreds of fishing boats.
Well the fish and chips were pretty good it was hell of it for the fish but the price was out of this world cost $80 for three servings now the fish was good but that price was very expensive after I paid that I had to go home enjoy keep your wallets open because they’re going to keep digging in there.
Top notch food and drink. The clam chowder – wow!
What a gem of a hotel! Super clean, super comfy bed, the pub had amazing food, service was the best. We had a delightful vacay!
Very poor selection of food. Super expensive for the small amount of food recieved. The waitress was very friendly though.
Amazing dining! Fantastic local and fresh seafood, great vegetarian options, and killer fries. Everything is made from scratch (including the sauces) and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Highly recommend stopping here.
Delicious fresh seafood and friendly, accommodating service. Thank you Rhoda!
Pub is friendly, efficient and focused on the fresh seafood, microbreweries, and local ice cream. Market price of my fresh caught, beer batter halibut and chips was $30.
Salt Pub is one of the best places to eat on the Washington coast, the food is great and the service is fast and pleasant, however, we have reduced considerable our visits, buy no fault of thiers. The condition of the economy have forced them to reduce portion sizes and increase prices, it’s a 100 mile round trip for us which also is a sustantial expence. Sad that we have to cut back but it still is a spot that we eat at whenever we are in the area and highly recomended them for a delicious dining experience.
Best Salmon fish and chips have EVER had! Wonderful views. Prompt, informative crew! Had two meals here, different days. Was sorry had to leave. Already looking forward to next visit ! Will bring my sons!
We got a room here during a work holiday party. The place is clean. They served great food. It was nice having a room to nurse the baby in and then go back to the party.
Excellent clam chowder, nice view, esthetically pleasing.
Food is wonderful, selection is amazing. I did not stay here so I have only insights on the food and service which are amazing!
Restaurant is fabulous. Good view of the harbor. Best fish & chips ever. Amazing clan chowder.
The steamer clam chowder was fabulous! totally fresh, the presentation was wonderful and it was so flavorful! The best chowder I’ve had. We also had a bucket of steamers and they gave us more steamers than we could eat, they were also fabulous! When, I come back to Ilwacko I will stop at this place, every time.
Gourmet clam chowder in the shell add a seared side of salmon, so good. Great service.
Limited menu but EXCELLENT food. My husband had the Tuna melt, not only was it a wonderful presentation, the portion was very generous and quite tasty.
I had salmon fish and chips. Really good, fries are hand cut and perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside but tender inside.
Wish I had room for the cobbler, it looked amazing but the serving was massive. Definitely something to share or come by just for that.
Staff was friendly, space was very clean.
Excellent tuna melt, great tacos, great view, and quick service!
My wife and I took a little road trip and was told by some locals that the Salt Pub had some good food. When we arrived we were surprised to see it was a hotel on the Bay. We went in the dining area and it’s facing the Bay. We were seated promptly and we were told about their current specials. Both the wife and I chose the halibut fish and chips. When the food came out, there were 3 big pieces of halibut steak which were lightly breaded and delicious. The chips were thick cut fries and seasoned to perfection. We were stuffed afterwards and neither of us finished our fries. Our tab came to about $60 and some change for the 2 plates and 1 soda. The atmosphere was really nice and the food exceptional. We plan on visiting Salt Pub again soon. If your within 60 miles, I highly recommend going there, it’s worth the drive.
Fantastic drinks, delicious eats and fabulous service. Couldn’t have asked for anything better! Started with drinks and prayer shooters and ended with drinks and berry cobbler. Sorry we ate our dinner and forgot to get pictures, halibut fish n chips and polenta with salmon!! So amazingly wonderful 🤩 😍
Salt at the Port of Ilwaco is a sweet little hotel with a bistro style pub attached. I had lunch there today and thoroughly enjoyed it.The menu is not very big but you can probably find something you like. And be assured that whatever you order will be of high quality. And the prices reflect that.
There’s also a full bar and they will be more than happy to make you a hand-crafted cocktail.
I had a Cuban sandwich with pulled pork and salami on really good artisan-style bread.
My wife had the smoked tuna melt which is served open faced and similarly artisany bread with cheese and tomato on top.
Both sandwiches were excellent and served with perfectly cooked, hand-cut fries.
And best of all, we got to eat outside, al fresco, right inside the Port of Ilwaco amongst the local boats. There’s inside seating, too. Whatever, and please forgive me, floats your boat.
We just ate in the restaurant, didn’t stay in the hotel. But the food was delicious, service on point, and a large beverage assortment!! Definitely going back soon!!
Rooms were basic, but we’ll thought out and comfortable. Everything seemed clean. Food at the restaurant was top notch! Absolutely amazing. Location was great, we walked to our deep sea fishing charter from the hotel. About 25 minutes to Astoria. Would definitely come back. Stayed in the King room on the bottom with the harbor view, some noise from above, view of harbor was nice!
We came here for the clam chowder. It did not disappoint. So flavorful, the clams tasted fresh and very hearty. Rhonda provided excellent service!
Wow, this is a hidden gem. We were craving fish, and stumbled into the hotel/resteraunt/pub.
We ordered the salmon dip with pita bread and the sockeye salmon fish and chips and were blown away. All fresh fish, large portions and delicious beyond belief. The fries we large fresh like cut straight off on a potato and perfectly fried. The salmon was lightly dipped and the interior pieces were thick and very fresh tasting.
The server was super nice and helpful. Good job. We will be back.
We had dinner here tonight outside on a picturesque deck. I wish I had ordered the bowl of clam chowder that my husband got. It is not your usual gloppy coast fare. It was homemade with a wonderful cream broth and fresh clams, potatoes, corn, bacon and herbs. Do not miss this best clam chowder on the coast!
Stopped here for dinner after hiking at cape disappointment. Outstanding service from the beginning and the food is AMAZING. Great cocktails as well. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Jules for a great experience
Excellent check in and check out communication. Hotel is right by the harbor which is great for a walk and close to the Discovery Trail. The food from the Pub was top notch!
highly recommend their tuna melt!! they have a quiet n comfortable atmosphere, if given the chance i also recommend their upstairs for a beautiful veiw of the docks
The food here is the best. No, wait, the service here is the best. No, actually, they are both the best! If you are looking for an amazing view, food that will please your palette, and service that makes you feel like there isn’t anything they wouldn’t do for you, then Salt Pub and Hotel is where it’s at! You won’t regret it.
Excellent food and excellent service! Our server was Brianna and she was on top of everything. Had the salmon fish n chips and i would definitely order it again! We sat out on the patio on a beautiful day overlooking the harbor and all those boats!
Came here for the salmon dip, tacos and steamer clams. The food was delicious and the service ( I believe our sever was Brianna) was very good! Would definitely come back if visiting the area again!
I had the salmon and chips and the polenta a week later. Just excellent. Great service and great food.
Absolutely the best fries around!!
Delicious halibut fish and chips friendly staff. Nice view, indoor and out door seating.
Enjoyed a fresh tuna melt and a delicious Cubano sandwich on the deck with a view of the marina. Dog friendly establishment.
What a delightful find. Wonderful lunch. Great view from the upper room. Friendly and competent service. Small venue. Probably need to reserve ahead of you’re on deadline. Oysters and Chips were a particular favorite!
Excellent find. Rhoda is awesome. The sea cucumber beverage was spot on. Nice view on market day.
Overall, a very good meal! It was kind of pricey, but it wasn’t too bad. I had the fish and chips. The fish and fries were very good, but the breading on the fish was slightly dark (not burnt, but quite hard) in some places.
Besides the epic wait time to accommodate a family of 8, this place was perfect. Exactly what you expect from a restaurant. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. I highly recommend you eat, or drink here. Get the clam chowder; both varieties are excellent. The Naan bread on the hummus plate is delicious. The porter and the cider were refreshing and the drink menu is above and beyond what you could hope for in sleepy coastal isolation. Go check out the art galleries, or book a fishing trip. Ilwaco is a great place to disconnect from the grind and Salt Pub is THE place to eat while here.
Great service and the food is good too. Disappointed in the change in the Crab Mac&Cheese. Won’t order that again
The place was clean. Food was fast, hot and delicious. The crab mac n cheese was a little small for the 27$ price tag but was very tasty.
Way overpriced, small portions, long wait to even get water (15 minutes?). I searched and found 8 to 10 bay shrimps and couldn’t find any crab (might have found a small stringy piece, but not sure if it was crab) in the shrimp and crab mac and cheese. $27 for a small plate of mac and cheese? My husband’s salmon chiopini ($27) was so small with a tiny piece of bread on the side. He said the flavor was good, but he was surprised at how small. Mo’s charges a lot less and has a great portion size. He was hungry after we left. I get it, price increases and food shrinkage, but this was too extreme. They had plenty of staff, so they can’t use the excuse of staff shortage for the poor attention we received. I would not recommend or return. I’m probably being nice giving 2 stars
This is truly a hidden gem! The food is elevated to cuisine at this waterfront restaurant. The clam chowder with mussels was wonderful and their salmon fish and chips was fantastic. The chef transformed these common dishes into unique experiences. It is worth the time to go visit!
We had the oyster shooters, salmon fish and chips, oysters and chips, and clam chowder. The oysters were so fresh! And their cocktail sauce is spectacular. The seafood and chips were simply amazing. I should have gotten the salmon but I couldn’t imagine what it would be like. Stupid me. It was, like, wonderful, man! Get it.
Drinks and beers were lovely. Service excellent. View lovely. High recommend.
People have been hot or cold about the clam chowder and I can understand that, depending on your experience with clam chowder. I am used to it having a very clamish broth with a hint of bacon, lots of clams, and a fairly thick consistency. I found their chowder to be strongly flavored with (very good) bacon but that took over the flavor profile to my taste. The clams were in the shell on top. The kitchen allowed a couple of dead ones to be served, but accidents happen. It seemed as though they were steamed and then placed on top. There wasn’t anything wrong with it- it was very well prepared and served. It just was a bit different from what I was expecting.
KEWT little bar in a hotel right on the marina makes a perfect spot for small parties after hiking around Cape Disappointment. Sockeye fish and chips was cooked perfectly with a touch of translucence in the thickest part. The open faced albacore tuna sandwich was what brought me out there first. Worth the trip, although a touch awky to eat requiring fork and knife. I’d be happy to smoosh the sides together and make a mess.
The sign at the entrance told me to put my name on a list on a tablet. After a substantial waiting period, this proved unnecessary as there were plenty of open seats at the bar. I believe it’s more for parties who really want that glorious patio-on-the-marina action.
Potato curry soup?? Omg yum!!! Best hand cut fries on the coast. Adorable outside seating looking at the marina. And super quaint and atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely will be back!
Great place! The staff was so friendly and fun. We sat upstairs and had an amazing view of the marina. All of us loved our food! Definitely get the mixed berry cobbler.
The service was fast, boyfriend and I shared a burger with fries. It was smokey at the beach so we didn’t go outside to eat. I forgot to take pictures.
It’s not easy to ruin fish and chips but when you ball up a piece of tuna and fry it until it turns to sawdust and charge over 20 bucks for it, you’ve done it. You’ve ruined fish and chips.
I’ve not stayed here but I’ve been to eat a few times since they’ve opened. Always great food, the cutest vibes on the patio overlooking the little harbor. Very nice staff and very reasonable prices for delicious food. I’ll go again 🙂
Very pricey. Not much selection. And no, I dont want clam shells in my soup
Great smoked tuna sandwich. Chowder comes with clams in the shell, yuck.
Our favorite place to eat in Ilwaco. Their clam chowder is unique and excellent, their salmon fish & chips are beyond compare and they always have excellent beers. We tried the smoked salmon dip this time and it was delicious. Their servers have always been nice, knowledgeable and generally swift. Nothing beats the view of the marina on a nice day. We will definitely be back.
Just had the greatest meal. I ordered the salmon fish & chips to go, with a Margarita 🍹while I waited. This is the first time I’ve eaten here, and I’ve really been missing out! Delicious! 😋 Great food. Great service. Great view of the fishing boats. Thank you for a wonderful meal. I’ll definitely be back.
We have been to Salt many times. I had the clam chowder 1/3 of my clams were not opened, and our server didn’t check on us so they could make it right. The potatoes in the chowder weren’t cook cooked.
Great place for an adult beverage and tasty food. Good sushi if you’re lucky to find it on the menu for the day.
