The atmosphere at this adorable inn/ pub is unmatched! When you walk in, you are greeted with the most friendly of staff who continue to provide great service throughout your entire visit! The menu is very with wonderful local selections. The clam chowder is a deconstructed version of the highest caliber ingredients. It is not to be missed. The fish and chips are of the catch of the day, when we were there it was halibut and absolutely fantastic. Fantastic. They also have a wonderful assortment of salads. The roasted root vegetable salad is absolutely fantastic. Not only is the food amazing, the view is wonderful with a view of the Ilwaco. Marina. I would highly recommend this venue.

  5. Emilia Wilson

Best salmon dip I’ve had in my life! The salmon cioppino was delicious and had hefty portions of seafood. The halibut fish & chips were cooked perfectly and the breading was delicious. We visited the restaurant while staying in the state park and loved everything we got. We would definitely recommend stopping here for seafood!

  6. Kristen Fry

This place is great. The Ilwaco area is starting to revitalize and you can see how much effort the community is putting in. The hotel check-in was a breeze. The room was simple and the price in January was a steal. I cannot say enough about the choices of art throughout the hotel and pub. Local, creative and high quality. The pub was outstanding. Wasn’t expecting such top notch food and service. We had dinner and brunch there. I would recommend this place to anyone.

  7. Sharon Nauta

  12. Curtis Allworth

Fantastic food, great service and nice view!

  13. Nathan Allworth

Great place to stay and eat! A clean, modern renovation of an older property brings out the best in it. The attached restaurant featured friendly staff, thoughtful dishes, and craft cocktails with a great view of the Port of Ilwaco.

  14. Amber Allworth

Delicious food in a really fun environment! Friendly service and beautiful views of the harbor! Will definitely be back!

  15. Suzy Williams

Hidden gem 👍 would have given 6 stars. A perfect meal in every way.

  16. Jordan Del Valle Tonoian

Food was great and service was quick! Oysters weren’t available the day I visited but it sounded like they had a lunch rush shortly before my visit that ran them out. Clam Chowder was more brothy than thick and had clams in-shell which was different. It was great, but if you’re particular about your chowder then keep that in mind.

  17. Adeela Iqbal

Melt was great and salad was perfect with the raspberry sauce

  18. Grillman

  24. Ginger Rohmer

This place has the best Cuban sandwich I’ve ever had.

  25. Darren Smith

Salt was almost an accident this day – Easter Sunday and very little was open in the area, so we ended up here for a late lunch and will definitely be returning. Rhoda waited on us and she was fast, friendly, and efficient. The first interaction of a meal sets the entire tone, and she made it excellent! We started with ceviche and for entrees; I got a burger and my wife ordered a vegetarian bowl – we were both extremely happy – food was perfect and really tasty (make sure to add the candied jalapeños to your burger). The food was served fast with great timing between the appetizer and entree. The atmosphere is comfortable with views of the pier/dock/river. If you are in the area when it is open (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays), be sure to try this gem.

  26. Kyle Alden

The owners are super people, nice location, good food, well appointed rooms with nice decor

  27. I Carmelo (Gigi Love)

    Great broccoli cheese soup

  28. Brenna Witherspoon

The food was incredible and truly the service was even better. Can’t wait to make it back.

  29. Kimberly Campbell

Best clam chowder I have ever had. Excellent oyster shooters and fish n chips. Great presentations, perfect flavors! Friendly service, cold beer.

  30. Dustin Repp

Must visit! Great little restaurant right on the marina. Fantastic food and wonderful staff!

  31. Penelope Gregor

We were staying at the hotel for the night before our early deep fishing trip in the morning. We tried this restaurant, fresh oysters were delicious, they were featuring the tinkerbell oysters? and tuna melt was great as well.

  32. Karen Bassi

Ate at the Salt Pub on a hot 88 degree day, after spending hours at the Cape Dissapointment State Park which is located three minutes from this hotel&pub. (Excellent location!) There are two ways to enter the pub, from the hotel courtyard and from the back walking path that runs along the marina and numerous shops. There is both indoor and outdoor dining, we sat inside to get a break from the sun. Our server PETER deserves the utmost respect from management and honestly deserves a promotion. From our first interaction as he approached us, to paying the bill and leaving, he provided the highest quality customer service. We love you Peter!!! We ordered the salmon spread with sourdough bread, tuna melt with fries, and a weekend special seafood alfredo. Delicious food, that will leave you scraping your plate no matter how full you are. Please come check out and support this establishment!

  33. John Huffstutter

They set a special table outside for us so our dogs didn’t have to stay in the car. Best salmon dip ever–house made, their recipe. Clams were awesome, and superb service. Overlooks a working marina, south to Oregon. We’ll probably stay there next trip!

  34. Audrey González

Great ambiance, excellent service, friendly bartender and amazing food.

  35. Bobb F

Really like the place. Will be back for sure

Food & drinks: Food and drinks were very good.

  36. Layton Rosencrance

Friendly, helpful staff. Food was a bit overpriced for the quality.

  37. Hans Bruhner

I love Salt. I did not stay there but have eaten there about 10 times. The Cubano sandwich and the Tuna melt are my absolute favorites. They both come with awesome fries. The fish and chips is great and fresh and everything else is good as well.

  38. Todd Heissenbuttel

Very friendly staff, excellent food, and fair prices!

  39. Parker Marshall

One of our favorite spots especially if it is a nice day. Great staff, great food and an unbeatable view of the harbor. Everything you want on the coast in one place.

  40. Jeni Broussard

I don’t often do reviews, unless I’m just so impressed by a place that I can’t contain the urge to spread my excitement to others. This place is a rare gem. We ate at the pub, and will definitely return to stay in their hotel as well.

There’s a shortage of fresh, creative food in Astoria, so cross the river to soak in the charm of this sleepy little town and do not miss eating at Salt Pub. The menu is super creative, with both comfort food classics and inspired Northwest dishes to meet the needs of both health conscious eaters and folks looking for some comfort. Everything we got was fantastic, and we would order each of those things again. The seafood is fresh off the boat, each day’s dishes being prepared with the catch of the day. The energy is fresh, and hip, and fun. The staff is super welcoming and friendly, and we left there already planning our next trip back. We got oysters, fish tacos, fish and chips, some excellent local beer, and the roasted vegetable salad. They were all wonderful, and that roasted vegetable salad is definitely a standout. If you’re looking for a delicious bowl of fresh vegetables expertly prepared with delicate flavors that you’ll want a second helping of (which I am forever in search of) that’s definitely it. Can’t wait to return!

  41. Max Kastl

The burger was amazing! Such a cool little place.

  42. Tiffany Ridenour

We dined here in April 2023 on a rainy evening and both my husband and I ordered the crab and shrimp mac and cheese! Wowzers! So good!!! So much flavor and loved the presentation!! I’m pretty easy to please on presentation though – ha. I was between two cocktails offered on the menu, so I let the bartender choose for me and boy was it fantastic! Everyone dining around us was enjoying their drinks and food, wasn’t a face without a smile in the restaurant. We are looking forward to visiting again!

High and low tables and bar seating options. Indoor and outdoor seating. Lovely view!

There was a young toddler with a couple while we were there and it was completely pleasant, so I could this being family friendly.

Food & drinks: Food was fab, see full review. We did not stay in the hotel, we just dined.

  43. D’Wayne Haskins

Great place. Good food great service fresh fish. We’ll be back

  44. Brian Krous

Amazing menu, it all looked so good, had the smoked tuna melt, was excellent and the fries were spectacular. Will be back

  45. Lisa Steinmeyer

Fabulous gem of a restaurant! Charming ambience. I had the clam chowder…best I’ve ever had! So fresh! Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!!

  46. Susan Evers

Great pub food– fish and chips, and seafood cioppino were today’s cuisine. Located by the boat harbor with nice window view from most tables.

  47. Debra Jones

Food & drinks: They have a bar & restaurant attached to lodging. Know by locals as the best place to eat, drink and stay in one of the rooms. Outside seating with view of the Marina. Saturday Market is outside on the walkway.

  48. Cory Medina

We are at the restaurant, it was great food. Clams and tacos were great! We had burgers and they were big and yummy! Lots of local beers. Service was good, people were friendly.

  49. carole

Ate at the restaurant great view and wonderful food

  50. Margarita Olvera Morse

Came here on a Saturday, which also happens to be the day Ilwaco has their Farmers Market, so we did have to sign up on the waitlist in order to be seated at the restaurant. It was less than 20 minutes later that I received a text stating our table was ready! Even though they were clearly busy, the servers were all friendly and the food came to us in a reasonable time. We tried the Crab & Shrimp Mac & Cheese, clam chowder, and grilled cheese sandwich. The pasta was INCREDIBLE with large chunks of Dungeness Crab and little shrimps scattered throughout. The chowder was less traditional/more modern version of the dish (with in-shell steamer clams on top and a thinner broth) but delightful still. Despite being on the kids menu, we were able to get a grilled cheese for the non-seafood eater, who stated it was one of the best sandwiches she’s ever have. Great beer selection and full bar. Awesome location with plenty of shopping around. Recommend!

  51. Jessica Wright

My husband and I had lunch here while visiting the coast. The service was great. Loved the atmosphere and view. Delicious drinks and oysters on the half shell. I also got the salmon and crispy polenta with greens which was good but needed more flavor. It needed more sauce or vinaigrette for the salmon and polenta which was a bit dry and lacking flavor. My husband had the Cubano which was OK. We would definitely give it another try in the future.

  52. Donielle Vest

    Great food and service

  53. David H (Dave)

The rooms are clean and adequate. The service is great. They do everything via text- which some people find odd, but I think it’s great. I have stayed there many times without ever talking to a human at all! If the pub is open, try it out. The food and drinks are pretty good.

  54. Josh Walters

Assuming we caught the hosting/serving team on an off night: missed our name on the list, sat us without menus, brought the wrong meals and managed to make us feel like we were inconveniencing them with our requests. Food was good but constant service mistakes made it hard to enjoy.

  55. Rosemary McGrath

Can’t beat there fish and chips.

  56. LJ B

Stopped in the Pub for a glass of wine and snack with the girls. Only 2 people working. They were obviously stressed out because they had people waiting for tables and refused to take any more reservations. We were told we could sit at the bar, but couldn’t order any food there. They were very rude. Two of us are locals and have stopped 3 times. We were able to get a table once and eat. Food wasn’t anything special and again the server was rude. I won’t be trying to give them my business again. There are plenty of wonderful places to dine on the Peninsula where your business is appreciated.

  57. Luan Mueller

Ideal romantic dinner! Intimate restaurant, bar, and hotel overlooks active marina. The kitchen prepares an upscale menu with reasonable pricing. We had an interesting seafood mac and cheese built around Dungeness crab sporting a sauce Verde. The second plate was cioppino chock full of regional clams in the shell, salmon, and shrimp crowned with a huge prawn. The stew/soup covers wedges of garlic polenta. The experience is like treasure diving! The fish and chips are also highly recommended by locals.

  58. brittany voss

Went here for some lunch and drinks. It was incredible, the service was great and the views were pleasant. Great pit stop for lunch. Prices are normal nowadays.

  59. Scott Bruns

Food & drinks: Excellent fish and chips.

  60. Nadine

Two people with a full restaurant were too stretched. Not sure why given the size of the pub. We waited 30 minutes for drinks. The food was really good, the Columbian Sandwich was fantastic.

  61. Robert Martin

Always really great food and atmosphere. Clam chowder is out of this world!

  62. Steve Harris

Ate at the bar, great service n food, keep it up!

  63. Dawn Niemann

Food & drinks: The food was amazing!

  64. Diane Lauridsen

Salad was unexpectedly spicy (a lot of blended red pepper in salad dressing). Fish tacos very good.

  65. Ali Hutchinson

    Great tuna melt

  66. Lois

Absolutely delicious food! Salmon burger was amazing~

  67. James Earl

We just had drinks and they were great, and the bartenders are on it.
    What a fun place.

  68. Jim Chan

Beautiful spot with great food and great service. I got the fish and chips which is catch of the day based(rock fish that day) and it was amazing, perfect batter and wasn’t oily or greasy. My son got the salmon burger and I’ve never had a fish burger feel and taste so meaty and taste so full of salmon and the salmon burger didn’t taste/feel bready at all. I’m from Seattle, but I’ll travel the four hours to come back here.

  69. Brian A.

The Pub is fantastic 👌 definitely not your average “Pub Grub”. Wow, I had the smoked salmon chowder and Hope had the Cubano sandwich on Gluten free bread. Great atmosphere by the port and the service by Rhoda was excellent 👏

  70. Nancy Gorshe

Great waitstaff and owners. Delish fish tacos and corn cakes! Wonderful view!

  71. Mark Thornburg

I am a long time visitor to Ilwaco. What was once a rowdy fishing motel has evolved into a first class seafood and sandwich restaurant.

  72. Gail Madziar

Our waitress went out of her way to make sure our vegan food was exactly as we wanted. Thank you for having vegan suitable options on the menu. Bean and mushroom bowl and bean burger both without cheese were great.

  73. Jamie J

We sat on the patio overlooking the marina and ocean which was divine. Pets are allowed out there and they provide water bowls for them.

They were out of like 4 items on the menu. I ordered the fisherman’s stew and crab and prawn Mac and cheese. The stew was a bit strange and had nuts in it, the flavor was just different, not bad. The Mac and cheese was extremely bland. I ate the prawns and left the rest.

We also had bloody marys and they weren’t my favorite. I’m thinking they had a bit too much horse radish in them?

    The service was great, overall.

  74. Jessica “Jess” Lyle

We drove all the way up to this restaurant from Oregon City For my Birthday, after seeing they had pretty good reviews and seafood. The drinks were good. The special was completely inedible, soggy bun, cold fries, and cold meat, my son sent that back and was credited a children’s chicken strip. Those were good the fries came out warm, oily and mushie. I ordered the Clams and now all I can taste and burp is that massive Chuncks of garlic from the broth. The ceviche was made with the tiniest shrimp, and it came out tasting like lemon and that is it. I ordered the bean and mushroom bowl that came out microwaved, plopped together and inedible. Our waitress was nice but I asked to talk to the manager and she wouldn’t come over and said it was good enough that they gave my son chicken strips and took my bean and mushroom bow off the order. I have never complained at a restaurant before but this was absolutely not worth it. How they have as many stars as they do is beyond me. Worst 81 dollars I have spent getting food.

  75. Madison Holmes

    Incredible food!!

  76. Chip

Food & drinks: The pub has a great view of the bay, The food was delicious. My wife had the smoked tuna sandwich. I had the seafood paella, and the portions were big. Our waitress was very nice, always checking on us.

  77. Joe S

Super relaxed, cozy and chill. Excellent view of harbor and the food was great. I’ll be back!

  78. Donna Waldkirch

Absolutely great food service and atmosphere. A must stop you’ll be happy you did

  79. Justin

Salt was exactly what you’re hoping for in a small, refreshed coastal hotel. Character without pretense. Room was small, clean, and priced right. Restaurant is a bombshell, excellent food, cocktails, and service. Definitely one to remember.

Food & drinks: Cubano with the hand cut fries hit right.

  80. Merle Waldkirch

Stopped by for lunch, food was amazing and the view is awesome.

Food & drinks: Food was excellent and drinks were good also.

  81. Allison

We couldn’t have asked for a more memorable wedding day, and a huge part of that was thanks to Chef Vincent and his incredible catering crew at Salt Pub Ilwaco. From the moment we first met Chef Vincent, we knew we were in the hands of someone who truly cared about making our day special.

The food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was not only so thoughtful, but also bursting with flavor. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the appetizers, the main courses, and of course, the dessert – it was all simply exquisite.

What truly stood out, though, was the level of personal attention and care that Chef Vincent and his team put into every detail. They made sure that our menu was tailored to our preferences and accommodated dietary restrictions for some of our guests without any hassle.

Beyond the food, Chef Vincent’s attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm were a true delight to experience throughout the planning process and on the big day. His professionalism and dedication made everything run smoothly, allowing us to fully enjoy our celebration.

We are incredibly grateful to Chef Vincent and the Salt Pub Ilwaco catering crew for making our wedding day so special and unforgettable. They turned our vision into reality, and for that, we can’t thank them enough. If you’re looking for not only exceptional food but also a team that genuinely cares about your event, Chef Vincent and Salt Pub Ilwaco are the perfect choice.

  82. Landon Lusk

Super good service and great food. Atmosphere feels very modern and upscale.

  83. Tommy Dyson

Came here on a rainy day and had the best fish and chips right at the harbor. Stop here for lunch before heading to Long Beach.

  84. M M

This review is for the pub only, not the hotel. This place is an absolute hidden gem that everyone should stop at when they’re in the area. Heck, I’m even a believer that this is worth driving to just for a nice meal . Particularly, the polenta is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. I have no idea how they do it, but between the perfectly sauteed vegetables in an incredible sauce and the mixture of the polenta, it is life-changing. The rest of their food is also super good, we have yet to go wrong with ordering anything there.

  85. Amanda Marsh

Love thus place great as always. Best place hands down to eat in the peninsula

  86. Casandra McCalip (Salley)

    Great food

  87. Natalie Carter

I was missing conditioner in my bathroom, I missed my morning shower. but the bed was really comfy. The bar downstairs had delicious food and very friendly, welcoming staff. I really like what this hotel brings to the area, it feels like home. Its a romantic little ocean spot, don’t miss it.

  88. rosailia waubanascum

Love the location and beds are very comfy and the lamb shepherds pie was delicious abd i have never had lamb but wish it wasn’t so stormy

  89. Lisa Hearing

Food & drinks: Delicious cheesecake! And incredible fish and chips.

  90. Brian Hildebrant

Kiddos loved the grilled cheese sandwiches, spinach and artichoke dip was also a hit. Great atmosphere particularly in the restroom upstairs fun decor. The gift shop in the lobby has unique treasures to remember your trip with or to entice friends and family to come with next time. Great view of the ships in the harbor, fantastic food flavor and well chosen and placed decor throughout.

  91. Deana Lee

We didn’t use the rooms but stumbled onto Salt Pub on a road trip looking for lunch and glad we did. The best Reuben sandwich and Shepherd Pie we have ever had. The location is beautiful, and the staff was amazing.

  92. Reg Regalado

The food and service was awesome. The restaurant and The View or outstanding. I was very impressed.

  93. Barry Williams

Hey there fabulous peninsula folks and beyond and cheers from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! What an absolutely gorgeous day we have here today to enjoy all that our little slice of heaven has to offer! With that, I decided to take my wife out to lunch at a place where the food and the atmosphere just seem to get better every time we go…down at the Ilwaco marina, the Salt Hotel & Pub Ilwaco. As they’ve always got a great selection of beers on tap I scooped up a pint of North Jetty Brewing Ledbetter Red Scottish Ale… one of my favorites!

For an appy we grabbed an order of their house made spinach dip, served with sourdough bread. This thing was a flavor bomb! So rich and creamy, it’s filled with loads of freshly cooked spinach and cheeses. The toasty crust leaves a few little crispy bits to nibble off the edges too…yummy! Maybe next summer they’ll add some Dungeness crab to it and send it even FARTHER over the edge with flavor! 🤩

My wife built her own lunch from a side salad (which was ginormous and looked absolutely fabulous) and an appetizer of the steamed mussels. The mussels were perfectly cooked in white wine, butter and aromatics and were served in a bowl of the most lively, lemon based broth.

I went out on a limb and ordered the “Dirty Reuben” sandwich. If you’ve seen my previous posts about Reubens then you already know the tenuous relationship I have with them…😂 Well, this isn’t your grandpa’s Reuben, let me assure you of that! It starts with a crumbly, yet stout dark rye bread that feels like it came out of some 500 year old brick oven. Layered on that is a house made “stout kraut”, house made “dirty sauce”, a blend of cheeses and the most tender corned lamb I’ve ever had. Oh yes, and that’s all served with hand cut fries.

Now you’re probably saying wait, did he just say lamb?? Yeah, I did. And it was amazing. Full stop! So tender and juicy, full of flavor, it’s brined in stout beer and a concoction of seasonings that was discovered in some ancient cave on the island of Sardinia…😂 Seriously though, flavortown on display! I only finished half of that beast as it was just so stuffed full off gooey goodness. And that stout kraut! Forget about it! So good! Still crispy and soaked with all that flavor from the dark stout beer. The dirty sauce is a riff on thousand island dressing only…. like, way better. Not too much of it, and it’s not too runny. Great addition to compliment the cheese blend that holds it all together on the bread! We did grab a fig crisp dessert on the way out just to have a little something sweet for later once all this food has settled!

The next time you’re headed out and you want a great meal with fantastic views, head down to Ilwaco and go see the folks at The Salt! Grab a seat at the window, along the bar or even outside on the patio. Tell em the foodie sent ya! Until next time, cheers and beach appetit from your friendly neighborhood peninsula foodie! 🌊😎

  94. Zoe Mendell

Off the beaten path, Salt hotel and Pub is a gem you won’t believe you didn’t know about. It’s that cool!

The pub food is seriously fantastic, probably one of the best meals I’ve had in the Astoria Long Beach area. The rooms are simple and perfect. The waterfront is lovely. Highly recommended!

  95. Beat Schmid

Great view of harbor. Good food.

  96. Michael Dowless

Salt Pub is where we take guests when they are in town. We love the food and atmosphere. Very down to earth but the food is top notch! Rhoda is so nice to everyone and it really feels like you are part of the family when you sit down.

  97. Travis Dearmin

The food and the view at the pub was phenomenal. I will for sure be going back here someday

  98. LK BAZE

Very small, quaint venue so call enroute to verify availability. The food was very good as was the service. Great setting at the marina.

  99. Dom Weldon

Delicious restaurant on the coast. Highly recommended!

  100. Isaac Vasquez

Food & drinks: Fantastic selection of beers and wine. Great food! Bravo to the kitchen snd staff!

Noteworthy details: The Pub! My gosh was I impressed with the food. Try the clam chowder. You will not be disappointed.

  101. Keith Seibel

    Food is top notch

  102. Val Dauterive

The Lamb Reuben was amazing, excellent fries, great drinks, and excellent service. Thank you Lenny! But, what really stood out, was the cook/chef coming out and asking us about our to go order and suggesting changes that would make it better for our drive home. Excellent service, thinking about the customers best experience… we truly appreciated it and did not expect it. Thank you!!

  103. Doug Furth

Always great customer service and the food is delicious!!

  104. A. Hoag

Really good, low key pub. Had the halibut fish and chips, hot, fresh, with really good fries. Worth driving a bit. Nice location over a working fishing harbor. .

  105. Jourdan Tabor

The service & grub is great! Highly recommend the salmon grilled cheese sandwich.

  106. Sheela Cara

For the food…the “Harvest Black Bean and Mushroom Bowl” is DISGUSTING. Strangely spiced mushrooms with dry potatoes and a ton of dry beans that don’t pair well at all. The waitress told me after that she knew it was an awful dish that would soon be removed from the menu and she didn’t even warn me. We appreciated her helping us find a dish that didn’t violate my food allergies, but I was really disappointed with the quality and lack of sauce (I had to drown it in hot sauce to make it tolerable). I mentioned all of this on the way out to her. The curry was very good and I wish I had not wasted my money on the rest.

  107. Jannabeth Bannister

Got lunch at the pub with friends. Customer service was great and friendly too. Had the fish and chips, it was delicious.

  108. Mel H

    Amazing view and great margaritas

  109. Amanda Johnson

    Delicious cocktails. Fun vibe.

  110. David Billeaud

Great restaurant, in an awesome location: Ilwaco Harbor. Fish and chips, tuna sandwich, home fries, beer… Perfect.

  111. Jess Kuhn

We had lunch there and the food was great and not great. The curry soup was awesome, two of us had the bangers and mash and one had potatoes that weren’t cooked through, but we both agreed the flavor was awesome (when avoiding the raw potato), the clam chowder was solid and the sandwiches were pretty rich but had great fries. Tasty drinks and the server who walked in and was given our table before getting her coat off was a good sport even though she seemed a bit overwhelmed. Previously had great clams and burger here. Will definitely be back but maybe during the week when it’s less busy.

  112. Albert Justice

Good food bur wish they’d bring back the mussel chowder

  113. Darin Molnar

Great food, great service. Must return one day soon.
