The Chicken Rice Noodle dish was amazing. Very tasty, and not oily at all. The salmon nigiri was a nice size, and tasted very fresh. The spicy tuna hand roll was tasty and fresh as well.

We decided to go check out this restaurant on their first night open tonight and it was soooo good! Both of my kids asked me to leave a 10 star review and were sad to hear I could only give a 5 star review. I’m not a big sushi eater but I tried some tonight that I have never tried before and it was DELISH! We will 100% be back! This food was great. Their customer service was top notch as well. Delicious food, my daughter loved the house roll & the potstickers. And even though they have just opened this week, and the serving staff is still learning the ropes, they were very friendly and attentive.

My Husband and I had the pleasure of having date night here! I called ahead and made a reservation and when we came in we were immediately seated and given water and menus. We learned the owner Eddie is a veteran fulfilling his dream of owning his sushi restaurant after living in Japan and learning the art of sushi making! Even better the sushi was amazing and service was great. Hospitality alone will make us loyal customers but it is a plus that the sushi is fresh and we didn’t have one bad thing on the menu. Thank you Eddie for serving and making us feel like we were having dinner with an old friend, we will definitely be back to help support your local business!

This is owned by one of our favorite restaurant owners. The food is great and the service is great. We highly recommend it. The salmon chips were outstanding and the genki roll was excellent.

By far this is the best Sushi in city of Battle Ground. I am very impressed. The sushi hand roll ，California Roll are the best I’ve ever had. Staff are super friendly, and the dining area is very clean as well. I will definitely be back.
I’ve been waiting for this place for a very long time, ever since I knew that this restaurant was going to exist in the Battle Ground area.
I went with a friend, as we both loved sushi, and ordered from their fairly large menu. They have more than just sushi, but sushi was the majority of the menu (obviously). XD
The sushi took a little bit to come, but it was a fair amount of time compared to Olive Garden and Red Robin wait time, so pretty decent. But when it came, it was such a large amount of sushi than expected, that we knew it was worth the wait.
And it truly was. The sushi was absolutely amazing. Even the rice (which people could care less for) tasted slightly different, almost like a fresher taste than other sushi places.
Either way, we were very happy and satisfied with eating here, and will definitely be here again and again!

Arrived at 6:30pm. We were greeted by the owner and seated after about a 10 minute wait, we will gladly wait longer now that we know how friendly wait staff are. We got our appetizers first and they were delicious, the owner also brought a sample of the evening special wails we waited for our main orders😋 very good sushi and atmosphere!
Our first visit and we are all super pleased. The service was great and the sushi was awesome. I have some pretty crazy dietary restrictions and they accommodated me and made thw changes needed. So nice how kind and gracious the staff is. Flavor wise… this was some of the best sushi we’ve had in a long time. Will come back!
It’s not clear on the menu, but you actually get a lot of pieces per “roll order,” so it’s actually well priced. Owner came out and chatted with us, and let us try some “tea eggs” that weren’t on the menu, and both my teenage boys that tried them RAVED about how good they were. Rolls were high quality and tasty. Overall great experience.

Every Sushi Restraunt within a 100 miles should be on notice. This place is hands down some of the best I’ve had. Delicious fresh fish, clean clean clean restaurant and great service!

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt as they’re new and just starting, but their service isn’t the best quite yet. They’re extremely nice people, it’s just that there seem to be a lot of mishaps like equipment not working, not enough seating or space, and things taking way too long. However, I’m happy to support businesses like theirs, and their food does taste good. I would recommend the rice noodles with beef, which have a great umami flavor to it. Prices are reasonable and the establishment is clean.
New sushi place in downtown Battle Ground, in the Fred Myers shopping area. I’m always up for new sushi places showing up, so we went there quite early in its existence, so I’ll probably go back after it’s a bit more established. I’ll re-review at that time. Pros: They take reservations, which is highly recommended as they only have like 8 tables. Fish tasted really good. Cons: They have too many rolls that rely on spicey tuna, and not enough with actual fish. Kinda pricey for even a sushi place.

The sushi tastes incredibly fresh and the designs are superb. We met the owner and he ans his staff are very friendly and attentive to all customers. It’s great to find a true gem that won’t cost an arm and leg to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend Genki Sushi!
My daughter and I stopped in to try them as they were highly recommended on the Battleground Facebook page. We tried 2 different rolls and they were delicious. A week later I called in an order on my car phone. The lady was so nice. I couldn’t remember the name of a roll and described it to her and she told me the name. My daughter was listening to the conversation and after hanging up she said “wow, why can’t all people be that nice”? I found out it was the owners wife that was so nice. We chatted a bit while they finished my order. Another week went by and stopped again! Met the other owner that time.
All staff and all sushi excellent. Highly recommend trying them.

Just had our first visit to Gen Sushi and it was by far the best sushi we’ve had in years. The owner was absolutely charming and you can tell he has a passion to deliver a wonderful dining experience. To top that he’s also a Marine veteran who proudly served this country. This may be our first visit, but many more to come. Cheers!

It was a beer batter base and it was perfect.
It was almost a fushion with the flavors of Japan and a battered fish.

100% Recommend this place! We’ve been needing a great sushi place closer to us for a while now, and happy that one that is amazing has arrived. 1st off, know it’s a local Veteran Owned/Operated place, 2nd, know that it’s delicious and the service is top notch!
Atmosphere: It’s a small place, but just plan in advance for either wait or call ahead to find out if you’re planning on coming during a peak time. Seating is comfortable and decor is nice. Parking in that strip mall area is always a bit strange, but nothing to deter you from trying it. Has big enough spaces nearby for trailers and such if needed.
Service: Eddie & his crew are simply amazing. They take the time to chat with you, make sure you’re taken care of, and deliver food & drink promptly.
Food: My wife and I are sushi snobs, to put it lightly, and we can both say that the freshness of all of the fish we tried were all just simply amazing. You can see in the photos that we tried quite the assortment too! We loved every bit of it and can’t wait to be back.
Price/Value: I would say it’s priced right in line with any other sushi place we’ve been to that we’ve liked.
Would we return is the ultimate question: Absolutely without a doubt, YES we would!

I went there a month ago with my girlfriends for lunch. I got House Roll and shrimp fried rice, both were very very good. The House Roll was awesome. It was crispy outside but soft inside. The shrimp rice is very different from other fried rice that I had in the past (in a good way). The owner told me he had tried about 20 times to get to the perfection. We also got Sashimi to share as a table. The fish is very fresh and each slice is big and thick. My husband and I are already talking about having a date night there next month!
I made reservations and took my wife to this restaurant for the first time yesterday. It won’t be our last visit. The food was excellent. The service was great. It was drop dead simple to make the Google reservation and we were seated right away when we arrived. If you are in Battle Ground and like sushi, then you owe it to yourself to give this place a try.
My wife and I loved every minute of our experience here! Reservations are easy to make online and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The staff are extraordinarily kind and helpful. We ordered the Spicy California, House Roll (FANTASTIC), and Green Dragon. All were delicious and presented beautifully. We also had the Gyoza Potstickers and Xiao Long Bao, both were wonderfully prepared. Although the food on it’s own earned Gen Sushi 5-stars, we were blown away by the kindness and excitement of the owner. My wife and I were also there with my parents who have their reservations about eating sushi (and ordered a rice noodle dish for their meals). The owner began a conversation with us and he realized my parents had fears about consuming sushi. He began to talk through all the safety measures and explain how fresh the seafood actually is. What blew us away was he ordered a dish for my parents to try (free of charge), I believe it was BBQ Salmon Nigiri. To my amazement my parents tried the dish and liked it! There were a few other occasions where he brought us some different things to try. I love small business owners that have a passion for what they do. This is our new date night spot and an absolute gem to have in Battle Ground!

Good sushi, but better when the manager or owner is there. The quality seems to fluctuate and the only thing I can think of is either different chefs, or the manager is there making sure the quality of the rice is proper and the presentation and preparation is done right.
When it first opened the rice was absolutely perfect, the way Jiro describes how sushi rice should be, but now its getting closer to grocery store sushi rice.
Vegas roll is the best, along with Lion King, and house roll.
Genki would get a raving 5-star review if the quality was consistent, but I want to give it 4 stars because sometimes its good, and sometimes its great.
The owner is a really good person and he spends a lot of time making sure his business runs well. He is “Ni sasageru” Genki sushi.
I’m not sure why there’s inconsistency in the sushi, but we hope it gets resolved. Genki sushi is really good sushi, some of the best I’ve ever had. Its the best around!
Super duper delicious and fresh. This is now our #1 to go to here in Battle Ground. It’s about time we had food in this town of this quality and magnitude.

Amazing food, lovely service, great prices! We got 4 rolls, 3 nigiri orders, 3 miso soups, a large calamari plate, and Xiao Long Bao for about $25 per person. Their outside seating area is lovely and despite facing a main road, there’s enough blocking the car noise without being obnoxious.

Small, Comfortable Friendly Sushi Spot- Met a friend there for lunch today ( my 1st visit) and enjoyed some top shelf Sushi. The quality , size and FLAVOR were excellent.

The sushi rolls tasted great and also had good presentation. They were very good at accommodating my wife’s egg allergy. I recommend the Premium Salmon roll. My wife liked the Rainbow roll.

I had the pleasure of visiting Gen Sushi for the third time, and once again, it did not disappoint. The quality of the sushi was exceptional, and the service was impeccable. The staff were welcoming and friendly, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable.
The seating area is a bit cramped, but the cozy atmosphere makes up for it. There is also outdoor seating available, which is perfect for those who prefer more space. The parking can be a bit tight, but it’s worth it for the delicious food.
Now, let’s talk about the food. I ordered the house roll, which was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. The combination of avocado, cream cheese, and imitation crab was absolutely divine, and the spicy and eel sauces added the perfect amount of kick. The sesame seeds added a delightful crunch, making it a truly delectable dish.
The Godzilla roll was also exceptional. The combination of avocado, spicy tuna, albacore tuna, and crab salad was a perfect match. The spicy sauce, eel sauce, tobiko, green onion, sriracha, and sesame seeds added layers of flavor that kept me wanting more. And the best part? It wasn’t too spicy!
The Calamari appetizer was a new addition to the menu, and I have to say, it was a pleasant surprise. The seasoning was a bit unusual, but once I dipped it into the spicy mayo, it was a perfect combination.
Overall, my experience at Gen Sushi was amazing. The prices were reasonable, the service was great, and the food was exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a delicious sushi experience.
As soon as you walk in, you will be greeted with enthusiasm and smiles. It’s amazing the staff are all so friendly and the sushi is great. I love the shogun rolls. When I am in the mood for some sushi I will come straight here every time. The prices are great. The food is great. And the people are terrific!!!

My family and I ate here for the first time this afternoon. The food was great and service was top notch. Very family friendly which I also appreciate. We will definitely go again and so happy to finally have a great sushi spot in Battle Ground.
This place deserves every single star of five. We enjoyed our dinner with my wife. The rolls were flavorful, salmon cuts probably one of the best in our area. The chef, who is Japanese (another good point for a Japanese restaurant) stops by every customer and have a shot talk making sure we are enjoy the food. He also shared that they use Japanese rice and cut fresh salmon every day.

Was super excited to try this place as it has amazing 5 star ratings. I like the ambiance and the staff was friendly. Food was ready on time. I’m struggling to rate a 3 and was leaning towards a 2 star as ultimately neither of could even enjoy the rolls and ultimately threw them out. My lion king roll was ordered with no spicy sauce and it was smoothered…spicy mayo with extra siracha. We checked the notes and the order was taken correctly. I removed all of the salmon in an attempt to remove the spice and the roll was still spicy and ruined. Probably won’t be back. Super bummed. Spider roll wasn’t great. Favorite was salmon premium. Thai tea was super good. Rice didn’t taste fresh and had a strange texture on some of the rolls.
LOVE. Home cooked, with love, amazing food and environment. Reminds me of growing up.

We love the sushi here!!! We’ve dinned in and taken it to go and both ways it’s absolutely fantastic!! The owner is super friendly too and we love chatting it up with him. When we were there last night, he was bbqing some pork chops and spare ribs. He gave everyone a generous sample and it was bomb. Highly recommend! We’ve tried the sushi burrito, Vegas roll, Avocado Roll, spider roll, and more! All of it is delicious and we are so excited for this option in battleground

Sat down for a late lunch with a friend. Family owned and ran, the staff are polite and friendly, the transparency about ingredients in the food refreshing, and the service impeccable.
Highlight of the visit was the hot green tea, which was served with roasted rice and unburnt leaves. Would highly recommend stopping here for a good sit down meal, or for a takeout as everything is handmade after ordering.
Our fave sushi spot in Clark County! The food is really good – fresh and well put together. The owner is always there working and comes out to say hello and make sure everything is good.

Recently moved to the area and heard a lot about this place from other members in the community. It definitely lived up to the hype and more. The family and staff were so nice, welcoming, and personable. We even learned a few things about how some off-menu items were cooked! The food was phenomenal. The people were incredible. I left with an overly full stomach and just an overall great feeling. The same cannot be said for most restaurants. I’m a huge, huge fan of this place and will definitely be going back for years to come. Worth every penny and every minute spent here. 🖤 🏻

Really family friendly and great for date nights! Staff is really friendly and accommodating. They have heaters out on the patio for cold weather, and there’s always some kind of special the restaurant owner is cooking up.
I like Gen Sushi, but one of their food preparations was questionable. Salmon Cheeks are one of my favorites but Salmon Collars??? They prepared it deep fried. When you went to eat it, you got a mouthful of bones. You could not see the bones until you bit them. Maybe if it was not deep fried, you could see the bones and avoid having to spit them out.

Got takeout from Gen yesterday. Phenomenal. Great quality sushi. Well presented in clean organized easily handled worry free takeout container that kept warm items warm and looking beautiful. Staff was VERY friendly and welcoming, price was on par with what you’d expect to pay for good sushi. And it was very good. Will be going back. It’s great that we have an excellent sushi option finally in Battle Ground.

We just had the best experience for dinner here. We have been searching for a new sushi place and we have definitely found it. The food was amazing and somehow the customer service was even better. We jokingly said we shouldn’t leave a review so the wait times don’t get too long the next time we go in.

We ate at Gen Sushi right after they opened and it was fantastic… it’s has gotten even better. Everything we’ve had is amazing and the owner is just incredible. He loves what he does and it shows in his food, his staff, and the atmosphere.

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating here tonight, and we absolutely loved it! We had Priscilla as our server and she was awesome! She made sure my wife selected an adult beverage she would enjoy. She was a delight! The entire staff was friendly and checked in us often.
The food! We ordered 5 specialty rolls and each was excellent. I must have uttered that word 10 times throughout our meal. We obviously had some to bring home so we will get to enjoy it again.

Best sushi we tried. I’m so glad they opened up in battle ground and the service is the best we ever received. We go there weekly to get sushi.

I’ve been here a few times and the service is always unparalleled, whether dining in or ordering to-go. They remember your name, are very friendly without being over the top, and are always fast. I’m honestly not even a big sushi fan but I keep coming back because of the quality and the great staff!
I’m sorry to say but we won’t be back for a while. The last 2 times we have gone here the server over charged us and also got our order wrong. We order the lunch combo and both times she separated it out so the cost was more expensive. Also asked for no avacado in our rolls and it came with it. Really disappointed as we truly used to enjoy this place.

The food is delicious (seriously never a bad experience) and the staff are extremely friendly. Catherine is our fave. They all go above and beyond. Such fun vibes and very welcoming. They’re always so patient with our crazy groups. Every time we come in everything is beyond exceptional. Hands down, one of our favorite places to eat out at! 🏽🙌🏽
My wife and I have eaten here several times. This veteran owned business will hopefully remain a staple in our community for years to come, I look forward to the day I get to bring my daughter on her first sushi date here. I am always a big eater when I go to sushi and the arrangement and presentation of the, always fresh, fish here is fantastic. My personal recommendation for the more intrepid fish eater for rolls would be their shogun, it is my personal favorite roll. For the true sushi connoisseur, you must have the yellow tale sashimi, I will never go without at least 2 orders of it.

I’ve been here several times, and have loved everything I’ve ever gotten. The serving sized are considerable. If you like calamari, you simply must order it. It is a mountain of freshly prepped calamari and quite good. I think it’s the owner, he is so friendly and has offered free samples of dishes like fried rice he is trying out. Honestly, so happy this place opened in BG.
Hard to believe there’s 5 star 🍣 but this place is pretty dang good. Each roll has great presentation. Well worth a visit.
How have I not reviewed this place yet? We love Gen sushi so much. They are such kind and accommodating people with a super generous owner. Every visit has been perfect or close to it. We’ve been here probably 10 times now since they opened. There have only been a couple of mistakes and neither of them were a big deal. Prices are pretty much where you’d expect for the quality of food and you get awesome sushi + the knowledge you’re supporting a small, ethically-minded local business. We come here as often as budget allows. I can’t really think of any suggestions for the owner. Seems like they know what they’re doing. We just went again today in fact and somehow it seems like the best visit yet. Also only 2 bucks for a pot of quality lose leaf hot tea? What year is this? I love this place. They’ve been awesome since the doors first opened and never faltered since.
Great service. The owner reminds me of restaurant owners from Korea and other asian countries. Humble, nice, very friendly.

We have been looking for a really good sushi spot for a long time. My wife really wanted to try Gen sushi and wow. Hands down best place we have been to. We ordered the Dragon, Coos Bay, and Godzilla rolls. Great flavor all around the dragon roll was probably one of the best rolls I’ve ever had. The Godzilla roll had so many different flavors it was a pleasure. We will absolutely be returning. Worth every penny. Great food awesome service.

We’ve been coming back quite a lot, and every visit reaffirms why we keep coming back. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness make us feel like family. Eddie, Sienna and Priscilla were incredibly kind and friendly. Each dish was a delight, bursting with flavor and freshness. The sushi is consistently outstanding.

I had a friend recommend this place and it did not disappoint. We got two rolls (Lion King and Crunchy Salmon), calamari, and boa. Everything was extremely fresh, delicious, and the presentation was well done. It was busy but we didn’t have to wait long and busy is for sure a good sign. You should check this place out. Highly recommend!
Love this place. The staff is so friendly and the sushi is amazing! My family decided this is the best to go out to locally, and plan on it at least once a month. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get.

Great new spot for sushi. Very friendly and outgoing staff that really do their best to make you feel appreciated. Got my food very quickly, and it was good sushi. Price was comparable to many other sushi places I have seen. They have lots of booth seating and a happy and cozy atmosphere. I ordered a bit more food than I actually needed, but have a lot of leftovers to take home!
Friendly, and everything I’ve tried there is good. In the land of pizza and burgers, it’s good luck to have a good sushi place in a small town.

Never write reviews about places, but gen sushi is special. Always a go to, and the staff has always been nothing but amazing. Several times while dining I’ve been offered free samples of things that sometimes aren’t even on the menu. Such a great experience, 10/10
