Really good phô. Light and flavorful
Food was very decorative and u can tell they out a lot of care into the meal planning
We went there with our friends and their son. They were very accommodating and the atmosphere was great. Everyone was very nice and helpful. On top of it all, the food was amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting in the area!
One my favorite places to eat on Bainbridge. Menu is always changing and bring fresh ideas. Tofu vermicelli and garlic butter beef
Just went in to try a few dishes, and they knocked our socks off! Taro Egg Rolls, Spicy Truffle Wonton, and the Chicken Buns were all dynamite. Great service too: speedy, and our server was the bomb. Highly recommend – some of the best Vietnamese cuisine I’ve had.
This was on my list for a long time. We got chicken buns, chili prawn noodles and beef pho. All the dishes were phenomenal specially the noodles and beef broth. Probably among the best bites of food I’ve taken in Seattle.
I loved my wontons 🤤 I will be thinking about them for awhile. This rest of my group’s food looked beautiful and tasty, but we were overall disappointed in the flavor- a little bland.
We asked for chili oil and the server brought one little dish for 5 of us saying “that should be enough for you all”. It was definitely not. We passed around my wontons and they poured the sauce from those onto their dishes because it was the most flavorful.
Everything was cooked really well (ie shrimps where very juicy and plump).
They did a great job with mocktails for our pregnant/sober friends!
The ube chicken and waffles were delicious. I loved the butter and syrup that went with it, and it all tasted so fresh. The waitress was really nice as well. I didn’t really like the bloody Mary that much, but it wasn’t my style to begin with.
Did not hear of a hype, just stopped in for a meal. I had the Dungeness crab pho. It was delicious!! The broth needed nothing. You could taste the crab in the broth!!
Shrimp was perfectly cooked. The spicy wonton’s were awesome. Used the sauce to put over the rice and other leftovers.
I’m not a foodie, so the flavors to a regular guy were outstanding.
Nice place, very trendy decor. Appetizer was very yummy, we ordered the pork belly wraps. For our entree I selected the lemon grass lamb, they were out of the tamarind lamb they offer which was very flavorful and very much enjoyed it. My husband ordered the chili prawns, and what a bust! No chili oil came with his dish nor the green onion, and the worst part of it all was the flavorlessnes of the whole dish. The shrimp tempura were not season nor where the noodles. The noodles literally tasted like they were boiled and thrown on the plate. Our waitress was nice, but not very attentive, overall it was an ok dinning experience. But would never order their chili prawns again.
Great food! Maybe my favorite banh mi in the area. Very busy even at 3 pm in the afternoon so be ready to wait.
The food was pleasant, the service was not attentive, but not too lacking. My biggest complaint was a 5% service charge to the house added to the bill that was not listed on the menu or at the table. It says on the reciept that this goes entirely to the house, not the staff. I understand costs increase, but I’d like to have know about it before ordering, not when receiving the bill.
One of our favorite places. We haven’t had a bad meal there yet! Highly recommend. Some of our favorite dishes are: mushroom pho, chicken buns, dipping noodle, chicken & waffle (brunch), wontons, spring rolls… the list is endless!
Good food. The portion size of the pho and seafood noodle dishes were adequate to make my family feel “full enough” but not really satisfied or full. They added a 5% mandatory service charge which really rubbed us the wrong way. At the bottom of the bill, it said “A 5% service charge is added to all checks; this charge is retained entirely by the house.” I asked the staff what it means to be “retained by the house”. They said this was being kept by the restaurant owner (not paid to staff) so they did not have to increase menu prices. WHAT? A 5% mandatory pre-tax charge IS an increase to menu prices, just an extremely dishonest one that catches the customer by surprise. Then after running my card, I was still presented with a receipt suggesting 18%, 20%, or 25% tips, but without any reminder of the 5% already paid. Dishonest pricing practices should drive customers to other establishments.
Ba Sa Vietnamese restaurant was SOLID! Our first time visiting Bainbridge Island solely because of Ba Sa. We ordered quite a bit of food because everything we read and pictures we saw looked so yummy!!!
We ordered:
1) Spicy Truffle Wonton $19: Our first dish and it didn’t disappoint, came with 7 pork and shrimp wontons and three de-veined shrimp. All good very nicely with amazing flavors that’s made of truffle oil, scallion, sesame seeds, chili oil, ginger. I recommend this dish!
2) Grilled Pink Scallop $21 (special, limited quantities): This was also yummy! (Okay, all the dishes we had today was yummy) came with 7, perfectly grilled scallops that’s topped with onions, shallots, laksa chimichuri, lime, Thai chili, peanuts, and garlic fish sauce. I recommend this dish!
3) Mussel in Coconut Cream $21: Amazing mussels that’s made with lemongrass, garlic, onion, laksa leaf, coconut cream, Thai chili. It comes out with a bowl of Mediterranean mussels, with yummy subtle coconut flavor.
3a) We had Baguette $3 with the mussels which was a nice addition (not required). It’s like any other baguette, but toasted really well. Slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Not required tho!
4) Butter Beef With Garlic Fried Rice $29: Yummy Kalbi beef with garlic fried rice with eggs and onions. I tell you what, although this is the most expensive dish we got, I say it’s worth it. The Kalbi beef was so gewd! Flavor was absolutely bomb, soft and you can taste the quality! Garlic fried rice was yummy too! Sadly our dish came out cool, not warm but it was still so good! I’m sure it’ll taste 10x better when it’s warm! Highly recommend this dish!
Side Note:
1) Ba Sa has a Service Charge of 5.00% which I didn’t know about until I went through the website. From their website it states “A 5% service charge is added to all checks; this charge is retained entirely by the house.”
2) street parking is plentiful but can be tough to find if it’s busy. You can also park a block or two away from all the shops.
3) Ba Sa does get busy! I suggest you reserve a table on Yelp prior to dining in.
Overall, a solid spot to munch at if you’re at Bainbridge Island!
Drinks are very pricy. Got the avacado spring rolls and they barely had a sliver of avacado. Told the bartender they were underwhelming and he said well they’re supposed to be light and refreshing. Felt like we were told that our perception was wrong and we should get over it. Wouldn’t really recommend.
The restaurant was number one place to go but post COVID the service deteriorated drastically and even the food quality degraded. However, the restaurant has now improved their service a lot since COVID. I really appreciate such restaurants which struggled post COVID with service issues but now are getting back to their pre-covid levels. The food quality is back and we will be now sharing with friends to start visiting it again. Thanks to the amazing team at the restaurant for making this possible.
I just wish they would add more variety of dishes as we are starting to get bored of eating the same (but delicious) food items.
Fantastic food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere
I strongly recommend you to try the Spicy Truffle Wontons. The food was clean and not greasy, so it was bland. It exceeded my expectations!
Thai is a beast. Best meal I’ve had in a long time
AMAZING food. Definitely eat here. Get the wontons and get bread on the side to dip it into!
The buns and pudding was delicious highly recommend
Ba Sa was a real treat on our trip to Bainbridge. We managed to snag seats at the bar without a reservation and that’s absolutely how I’d choose to be seated again. The energy at the bar was great, with lively and consistent service. The food options weren’t the largest vietnamese menu I’ve seen before, but what was available all looked great. The food we ordered was delicious, I particularly enjoyed the pho. Cocktails were similarly tasty, but I want to highlight the excellent whiskey options available as well. Was not expecting to get an amazing neat pour of bourbon at a fair price here! Will absolutely return next time we’re on Bainbridge.
Nice restaurant with fusion food. Good service.
We really enjoyed the pho and eggrolls!
Food is average and service is poor.
Food was delicious and customer service was great!
We are regulars here, the food is great! I recommend the taro egg rolls with a cocktail and then their pho or a noodle bowl. The food is comforting and locally based. The atmosphere is always jumping and lively and the staff are so kind and amazing at their jobs. I do recommend a reservation on busier nights like Fridays and weekends
Food was fantastic, one of the best lunches I have had. Good service. Highly recommend to anyone
The food was excellent! The server was very friendly & gave really good recommendations. Atmosphere was very pleasant. Definitely will revisit the next time I am in the area
An extra 5% is charged automatically on the bill. I was told that it doesn’t go to the servers and it’s not part of the tip. The suggested tips are still 18% 20% 25%. Why not just increase the menu price then? This hidden compulsory surcharge just left a bad taste in my mouth…
Ba Sa should be a good experience, but it always disappoints in some way. The food is *almost* great, but then I leave feeling fleeced. Their pictures online are gorgeously plated but come out looking boring and greasy. The taro rolls and wonton small plates were good, but expensive. The entrees were heavy, not particularly well seasoned, and . . . expensive. The worst part was my co-worker getting charged $18 for a scant glass of chardonnay. Oh, and that extra 5% added charge is ridiculous. I’m kind of surprised they didn’t turn us upside down and shake us until more money fell out.
A friend and I were in town this weekend and I just have to say after our first dinner in the restaurant on Friday, we promptly ordered to-go on Saturday. It’s so delicious! Spicy wontons and vermicelli noodles, oh and the fried rice, chefs kiss! Can’t wait to go back!
Best Vietnamese food! My wife ordered the Sizzling Egg Plant and Tofu. I ordered the Black Shoyu Garlic Chicken. We both agree that their menu had a lot of dishes you don’t typically see in your average Vietnamese restaurant. With that being said, Damn the food was good. If you have no idea what you want, order the Black Shoyu Chicken. My wife said she would order her Eggplant and Tofu again and again.
They have a great mixed cocktail menu and offer something for everyone’s palate. We sat outside on the balcony where it’s nicely decorated and just feels so inviting and comfortable. The employees seemed to be very well trained in their duties, customer service and ensured everyone looked presentable. This visit was definitely a real treat and worth the scenic drive from Puyallup.
Worth crossing water for…
Had a Banh mi and Sizzling lemon grass lamb. Both dishes were full of flavor. The bread was crisp without being sharp, beef was flavorful, and everything held together to the end. The lemon grass lamb was just awesome. The lamb hit just the right amount of grassy without being too strong.
Drinks: Pineapple Express and Tamarind Sour
Everything was great, from the food, atmosphere, and service. We got the chicken buns for an appetizer which were perfectly flavored and a delicious bite. Chicken bahn mi and lemongrass lamb as entrees were both delicious and extremely flavorful. Prices were a little higher than we would like to spend for lunch, but it was worth it! Highly recommend!
Loved everything we ordered except the lamb skillet, which was a bit sweet to us.
A lovely dining experience. The food and drinks were spectacular
It is oily but sooo delicious 🤤. Service is friendly and good.
They were pretty busy but we were able to grab some seats at the bar. I appreciate that they had mocktails so I could enjoy some drinks with friends. We got the razer clams which was overcooked and starting to be rubbery. The flavor was good though. The egg rolls were really good! I really liked the skin of the egg rolls, it was a nice crisp and not the usual flaky skin. My entree was the beef pho, and while the beef was the star of the dish, the noodles were overcooked and falling apart. Overall I really liked their flavors but their execution could be improved.
One of my very favorite restraunts! Anything you order will be perfectly prepared!
Their pho is different from the normal pho place. The beef texture is better. The broth is better, especially when you use it to dip the sandwich.
Food, Scotch flight and service was great. They do have outdoor seating, but requires a wait list so we sat at the bar.
I walked in cold with no knowledge of this restaurant and was immediately impressed with the style and ambience, though I wasn’t sure what to expect. Since it was just me, i sat at the bar and engaged in great conversation with some other travelers and then tasted the Taro Rolls, which are the best egg rolls I’ve ever had. Full of flavor, far beyond what you would expect and the portions were generous. I ordered the chicken Banh Mi and it was also incredibly tasty, nicely balanced flavor in every bite. I highly recommend Ba Sa if you’re up in Bainbridge. Catch it before everyone else does!
Best avocado spring roll I’ve had. And I eat those…A LOT!! Just appetizers and drinks today. Super refreshing on a very warm day and after walking 5-6 miles being a tourist nonetheless…it was a great respite to replenish and wind down on the second day of anniversary vacation. Next up…Cruise to Alaska!
Always delicious food and drinks. Definitely on the pricier side, so be ready to spend over $100 for two guests.
I dined in the outdoor terrace area and had the avocado spring roll with peanut sauce and the mushroom pho. Highly recommend both of them!
It is a nice place to eat, with a great variety of items on the menu. Expect to spend some money, but you’ll get great service and tasty food.
Excellent healthy food and drinks I liked GT.
And the soup amazing.
Great, suergreat
Servers didn’t check on us once during meal. Would have realized we didn’t have utensils.
Lamb dish was 1/3 unrendered fat. We showed to waiter. He didn’t care.
Restaurant has automatic 20 percent gratuity added to check. Maybe that’s why server dialed it in, was getting 20 percent no matter what.
On top of all that owner adds a 5 percent inflation charge you only find out about when the check comes. Why not simply raise price of dishes instead of springing surprise charge on patrons?
ATTENTION GLUTEN SENSITIVE PEOPLE- Ba Sa has multiple options including GF egg rolls that are fantastic. Celiacs, not sure if they can accommodate sorry. But overall, wonderful food and service.
This is the sister restaurant to Pho T&N in Poulsbo, which is probably our most frequently visited restaurant in the county. It is an entirely different experience, however, so be aware of that going in. BaSa is definitely tailored to the Bainbridge crowd, it has more upscale menu items, a full bar with creative cocktail options, and a totally different menu.
We’ve been here twice and tried a variety of things, all of which were very good. I still prefer T&N, (sorry kids), but I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Vietnamese fusion cuisine in a good location with a warm atmosphere.
If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to ditch the truffle oil. If you’re going to have truffle on the menu you need to spring for the real thing. Also – bring over the spring rolls and egg rolls from T&N because they are works of perfection and I’d be more likely to make the extra drive to Bainbridge if those were options at both spots. 😉
One of our favorite places on bainbridge. But we miss the bun cha ha noi! Bun-cha gives us life. Please bring back the bun cha!
Great clams!
The food was really good and staff were friendly. It’s a little on the speedier side, which I understand because it’s on an island. However, it’s not any more impressive than other lower cost, mom and pop options in the region, in my opinion. Still really enjoyed it though! Lots of unique options.
Walkable to the ferry. Amazing food. Delicious drinks. Great service. I always order too much, eat it all, then wish I’d ordered more the next day, so I had leftovers.
The pandemic is over. Time to loose the service charge and the $17 ($18) cocktails.
Exceptionally tasty food! Every single item I tried was astonishing, I’d put 10 if I could. Nice selection of NA drinks, teas and coffee, my favorite was Spicy margarita. You SHOULD try their fried calamari; definitely a place to stop during a day-trip to Bainbridge. We didn’t make a reservation and were seated right away, but if it is a good weather and weekend, you definitely should
What can I say. This place was incredible. The food, the drinks, the friendly, knowledgeable staff. If you enjoy delicious food, your going to love Ba Sa at U-village.
Went here for lunch. The restaurant is warm and inviting. Service was great. All staff interaction was warm and pleasant. They take cleaning serious. We had the egg rolls, chili prawn noodles, and soft shell crab roll. All three dishes were delicious.
don’t know if this is authentic; however, the food ( and desert) and service is sooooo goood
Amazing food and service. This is by far the best restaurant in Bainbridge. The drink menu is unique and they have a great selection of mocktails. We had the uni toast, spring rolls, pork fried noodles and the beef pho. Everything was delish. So stinking good. I can’t wait to come back!
Best food on Bainbridge! The Pork Fried Noodles and the Uni Toast special were delicious, and our server was super helpful.
Pork fried noodles were excellent!!! Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhggh drinks were good too
Social media’s favorite Ba Sa was not disappointing!!! Many of their dishes were on-point 🤩 Especially, softshell crab roll was so fresh and so delicious 🤤 Their bread pudding amazing as well. Chicken pho to boost warmth after wandering the island in the wind 🌬️ Dumplings and clams were great too but not exceptional 😝 Staff were super busy but attentive. Great place for family, couples or anyone who wants to try great asian food 🙏🤩
Spicy Margarita Mocktail requires exquisite taste to enjoy; I had hard time understanding the flavor 😅
Mushy rice for 2 out of 7 dishes.
Most of the dishes are too salty.
Vibe is ok
Come back? probably not..
What a faaaaabulous spot. Gigantic bowl of dry aged beef pho and very fresh spring rolls. Very accommodating for dietary restrictions.
An extra 5% is charged automatically on the bill. I was told that it doesn’t go to the servers and it’s not part of the tip. Why not just increase the menu price then? This hidden compulsory surcharge just left a bad taste in my mouth…
Food and drinks are overpriced anyway.
We come back to Ba Sa every now and then. Love the food menu. It’s usually very busy so get on the list and walk around town.
Was here on a busy sunny day on Bainbridge island. The moment I stepped in, the service was everything. The person on front desk was extremely friendly and immediately made the experience. The food was great. We shared the jojos, chicken buns and calamari. All of the food was fresh and hot. The calamari in particular was perfection! I wish I could taste a little more of the chilli but I like spicy. Overall the perfect spot for lunch if you find yourself on Bainbridge island. Would come back just to go to BaSa!
4.5 stars – overall reasonably priced with great food and atmosphere.
Recommend:
Softshell crabs – did a great job on sainting the crispness without infusing too much oil
Rib stew – tender and flavory. Used sweet potato instead of common potatoes. If the rice is less sticky, they’d be perfect together.
-0.5 for the fried shrimp noodle — shrimps are fresh and chewy (in a good way) but I couldn’t taste the sea with that much seasoning. I understand the bak choy is a good balance for salty noodles and shrimps, but they don’t quite go together.
Mostly greasy food, didn’t enjoy the veggie or beef noodles, spicy truffle dumplings are tasty if you really like truffle
This restaurant is incredible. Truly you could walk in and say surprise me, and you will love your meal! Enjoy.
Delicious food! We started with the JoJos that were perfectly seasoned and paired with a fantastic aioli, and the beef pho was phenomenal—honestly no dressings needed! Perfect for our afternoon stop, and would come back for a luscious dinner and a fantastic dessert!
TLDR; Would ideally give 10 stars. Absolutely brilliant food! Flavors are so so spot on, and for how good the seafood is, the prices are exceptionally affordable.
We did put our names on the waitlist through Yelp, which I recommend because there was a 25 minute wait. The table did get ready for us earlier though.
Drinks: oxacan old fashioned, passionfruit lemondrop
Food: soft shell crab roll, mushroom pho, fire roasted clams
Dessert: Cheese and pear panna cotta
Recommend absolutely everything we ordered. Not one this was out of place, I’m amazed by just how good the food here is.
Vegetarian options: Very few options but they are really very good. If you like mushrooms, then definitely don’t skip this place.
Very good me and my family did not have a single bite that we thought wasn’t good definitely recommend!
