My second visit to Wooden City did not disappoint. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar. The bartender Josh was cordial and very attentive. First class service. The Hungarian wax peppers are one of the most unique and delicious dishes I’ve had. Also the french onion soup is the bees knees. Highly recommend this classy establishment.
Wow! What a delightful addition to downtown Spokane. The menu was fun, filled with unique and familiar options. The bone marrow was a decadent treat, the Hungarian peppers are a must try. The staff was friendly and attentive. Go check them out, you won’t be disappointed.
LOVE this place so much. Really friendly, fast service even when its super busy, and the range of food from accessible price points to fine dining makes it affordable for most.
The beet ravioli changed my life, and the old-fashioned on tap is delicious.
Drinks, ambiance, and food was delicious. Best Caesar salad with home-made croutons on it, I will go back just for that salad.💖 The risotto was creamy and paired well with the fish. Best chocolate martini I’ve had in Spokane.✨ My boyfriends steak wasn’t medium rare which we ordered; it was more well done but it was still really good with the steak sauce on it. In my opinion it shouldn’t be $36 with how small and thin it was.
Almost mad at myself for not knowing about this place sooner….. So good all around. We will be back
Service was excellent and very friendly but food was even better 😋 👌
Loved the atmosphere, fun and lots of table choices. The staff was very friendly and attentive, they made it a great night. The food was delicious, we had several appetizers and mains, even tried all of the desserts! Great place for a fun family night out!
Amazing food, great cocktails, lovely ambiance and wonderful service. Will definitely be back!
Dining here was a wonderful experience. I had the peppers appy which was a meal unto itself and absolutely delicious. I also had the steak frites which was cooked perfectly. It was ideally paired it with their yummy cab franc. Oh, and the lemon tart for dessert.
I have been dining at Wooden City Spokane since their first week. I have been 6 times since then and every time no matter what I try on the menu I am happy with the service, and food. The facility itself is clean and beautiful, the staff has always treated myself, friends and family with a very high level of service and welcoming smiles. There are in my top 3 for dining here locally for a special occasion, or for date night with my wife.
Came with friends over valentines weekend. The specialty menu was amazing and Alan took great care of us. Thanks y’all!
We were able to grab walk in seating for an early Sunday evening dinner. Wonderful atmosphere and delicious sides to make our day complete. Service was excellent.
Delicious, healthy food, yummy mocktails, friendly prompt service, and a beautiful, modern setting. We were visiting from out of town, and walked in without a reservation and they graciously accommodated us. The happy hour offerings were varied and tasty. Try the Caesar salad with warm, deep fried croutons. Yum!! Seriously!! Thanks Wooden City!
My new favorite restaurant. They do such great work. Knowledgeable staff that are very attentive but not obtrusive. Great energy. High commitment to quality.
Wooden City consistently hits it out of the park!
Definitely one of my favorite Spokane restaurants.
Tonight was happy hour visit — the mushroom skewers are AMAZING!
I had the wonderful fancy burger for dinner and got to try the crispy polenta and jerk cauliflower off my wife’s plates.
Such a nice example of classic with a modern twist. Their pizza oven is covered with gorgeous, deep blue tile. I had the vegan pizza and it was flipping phenomenal.
The unique design elements of the interior space just adds to feeling that you are someplace special.
Polenta was amazing. Must try. Blistered green peppers were great. The shrimp we were really impressed with. Actually GOOD size shrimp. We ordered the tavern burger but had to bring it home we were so full. Service was great too. We will be back for sure
This might be the home of the best whiskey sour in Spokane! Wooden city is a spectacular addition to the area restaurant scene. An incredible menu full of fresh seasonal food coupled with an excellent menu of drinks. Both the waitstaff and the bar tenders are phenomenal. If you can swing it, check the happy hour menu. If not, the regular menu is killer too. This is one of those few spots where 5 stars is not enough.
Design, food and hand crafted cocktails…all perfect. This place is a true gem in Spokane. The food scene is Spokane is thriving, and still this place tops our list of best restaurant in the city. The trade winds cocktail is my favorite.
So good! Beet ravioli is the best dish I’ve had in awhile. The peel n eat shrimp are also amazing. Happy hour is best in the city. 10/10 would recommend!
Get the Hungarian stuffed peppers. It is an unforgettable experience that you will regret missing. Actual food of thr gods. 10/10
Can’t rave enough about Wooden City Spokane. Service, pricing and meals are impeccable. Made it in for Happy Hour and their beer+shot, mushroom skewers and Tavern burgers with fries are quit a delicious deal! The must haves for the table are the Roasted sausage and cheese pepper, with a heavenly chive oil… Bone marrow, spreads and melts like butter and of course the wood fire pizza. Peppers, pizzas and burgers are from the wood fired grill so the taste and smokiness hits your palate and you’ll want more. Beet ravioli and lamb Bolognese for pastas win in both playing and flavor. Wooden City Spokane gets my thumbs up for family or a great date night out.
From the moment you walk in you know it’s going to be great. Watching the staff is almost like watching a choreographed dance, they all appear to be working in unison. Service is unparalleled. Food, you can’t go wrong with their wings, burgers or pizza. Desserts!! The apple crisp will blow your mind. Make reserbations.
Delicious!! Great service. Chill vibes. Great looking place.
The place was buzzing when we walked in with chill music, people laughing and the food smelled great. Once our plates arrived within great time as well as our drinks, the party got started. This is a great place to visit if you’re on a trip to Spokane. From JBLM.
Excellent food, Excellent cocktails and Excellent service. Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. I’ve eaten at most eateries in Spokane and this was near the top.
The food, ambience and staff are all amazing here! We visit often and the dark-haired middle aged hostess always acts like she’s doing us a huge favor by finding us a table. She consistently gives off a bad vibe. That is my only complaint but she always makes us feel less than welcome!
My wife and I have been here twice now, and both times found that the pizza was excellent. Previously, we got the veggie and the pesto/bacon. Tonight, we got their special, which was the Hawaiian, and between the FRESH pineapple and the amazing barbecue sauce atop, it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. I sincerely hope that one makes it to the main menu.
Friendly and expidient service, great food and a neat industiral chic atmosphere
Crispiest and best rings ever. The peppers are to die for. We will be back!
I didn’t know what to expect, but was happily surprised at how nice this restaurant is! The restaurant has a nice vibe and is beautiful inside. They have large comfortable booths that give you lots of privacy.
We started with the Caribbean-spiced chicken wings – they were so good we were fighting over the last wing. The Cesar salad came with homemade croutons and was delicious. Next we had a pepperoni pizza – lots of pepperoni and very flavorful. We finished sharing the apple crisp – again, fighting over the last bite.
Recommended!
I’m not usually one to write reviews, but I feel like this one is warranted. I came in with 4 other people and we ordered half of the menu. Everything we had was absolutely divine from the blistered peppers to the best french onion soup I’ve ever had, lamb bolognese and salmon toast were some of my favorites. It was all gorgeous and tasted as perfect as it looked. Their drinks were all amazing as well (we tried quite a few of them). Jess was our server and she was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I think she refilled my water glass about 28 times, whoops. If you are considering going, you have GOT to check them out. I eat out a lot and this is one of the best meals I have had in years!
Wonderful meal at Wooden City. It was so good that we actually went back the next night. Our favorites were the Hungarian stuffed peppers with chive oil ( we soaked up every ounce with the fresh bread), hamachi crudo, salmon toast and jerk spiced cauliflower. The first night we had the thin crust pizza which had a great crust. Drinks were fun, although they ran out of three different Tequilas
Went here for my sister’s and my birthdays with our spouses. Service was excellent and so was the food! Can’t wait to try them again
Excellent food at a reasonable price. Exceeded my expectations
This restaurant is fabulous, it was so good that visiting Spokane I went for dinner twice one for the chicken sandwich and the second for the burger and both of them were awesome! They also had a great selection of wine and the staff was nice. I can get very crowded if you have a large group so definitely call in advance and reserve as early as you can.
By far the best restaurant in Spokane. I have tried nearly the full menu and everything is always amazing and full of interesting flavors. The staff are always super friendly. I’d suggest making reservations as they are always busy, for a good reason.
Interesting ambiance. Very nice space. Nice staff. A bit of a formal vibe for spokane. Limited menu. 12 inch pizza will run you $20. Not much better than similar pizza at 30% less elsewhere. Overall solid spot but you’re paying a 15 or 20 % premium for ambiance and experience if that matters to you. Decent beer and wine menu. $8 for a beer drops to $7 on 4-5:30 happy hour
Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent service. Highly recommend!
Drinks, food, and service was all amazing! I got the beet ravioli. It was delicious! There were several other things on the menu I will be returning to try. Not an inexpensive place to eat, but it was worth the money spent. I also enjoyed watching the chefs cook and staff. Not one staff member was standing around. Food was served hot. I highly recommend!
Must try!!! It’s our new favorite restaurant in town.
Love this place but disappointed last night. We brought our daughter who is vegetarian because we love the veggie burger! She ordered it and Matt asked if she wanted it tavern or fancy style. She said fancy. She only ate a small piece and we took the rest home. She didn’t want to say anything but (the cook and/or server) brought her the fancy burger with BEEF! I am disappointed that this happened. Now I am unsure about taking anyone else there because this was a big mistake! Service and the rest of the food was excellent though.
Our favorite restaurant in Spokane. Fabulous food and great service by ALL but especially server Hunter. Everything we had was amazing. Put your name in online or get reservation they are ALWAYS busy!
The staff were super attentive and fun. The menu looked interesting so we sampled a few dishes. The beet ravioli was amazing and will be a dish that I will now crave…. Thanks a lot!! Did I mention I’m visiting from Portland??
Now on to the gnocchi. I’m not a big fan of gnocchi, until now that is. I savored every bite. Thanks again Wooden City!! I look forward to seeing you again. Cheers!
The food was amazing! The service was great, and the experience all around was top tier!
I visit Spokane every three months or so for work and I’ve been here twice. The service is really good and it’s considered one of the better restaurants in the area. I actually expected a more fine dining experience, but it was more casual, which was OK. Food is reasonably priced and very tasty. I recommend stopping by, but make sure you have reservations ahead of time or you will not be seated.
Top tier restaurant. The servers are amazing. The food is incredible… like everything single thing on the menu is great. The croutons on the salad are out of this world, while the fancy burger is probably the best burger in Spokane.
First time visiting Spokane and after enjoying the falls and parks of downtown we needed to eat!! We walked a few blocks and discovered this foodie GEM! Sat at the bar as we didn’t have reservations on a Fri night. Needless to say we enjoyed our conversation with the staff as they made us feel at home. Then these two dishes appeared before us and the chatting stopped!!! Wife’s salmon was amazing and I don’t really like salmon! My pork chop wholly my goodness it was amazing 👏.
Cool atmosphere, excellent cocktails and excellent food, what’s not to love? I had the lamb bolognese, incredible, very good old fashioned as well.
This is my third time coming here in about two months. We don’t live in Spokane but we visited both times on this visit. The happy hour menu is amazing (GET THE POLENTA!!). The staff is casual, attentive and fu. I wish this could be my local.
Shout out to the Angel behind the bar, Jess for the chats and the great service.
If you don’t stop in when you’re in Spokane and eat everything you are nuts.
This was some of the best food I’ve ever had in Spokane. I went there with two of my friends and the three of us were so impressed with the food, ambiance and attention to detail from the staff. Hunter was our server and he was charismatic with each interaction as well as knowledgeable about our questions and accommodating to our requests. I could not be more impressed!
Amazing food, great atmosphere, our waitress Nicole was amazing, only downside was it is VERY hot inside, no A/C. Would not recommend going here if you don’t like it hot! Other than that it was fantastic.
Best dishes in town! The fried chicken sandwich is Amazing! This was the thing I’ve tasted in years.
We had an amazing experience at Wooden City! The food and drinks were phenomenal. Michael was an incredible server and created a great experience for our friend’s birthday! We will definitely be back!
Loved this restaurant! Our server was perfect. Character, great recommendations, well timed visits.
The food was excellent. We sat at a high top in the bar area. Great spot for people watching. It was recommended we try the peppers appetizer. It was so good! Lots of flavor. I loved it.
We also split a salad and a pizza. Both were great! Loved the pizze and we added prosciutto.
Amazing cocktails. Lovely flavor and unique combinations.
Great food and craft cocktails. Probably one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Spokane.
This is my favorite restaurant in Spokane. The service has been great every time I’ve been, and the food is delicious. I get the Fancy Burger, and my partner gets the Beet Ravioli, which they have said many times is the best thing they’ve eaten since we moved here, and we split an order of the peel-and-eat shrimp. Also, I can’t drink, but I really enjoy the non-alcoholic beverages here. They’re delicious, and I get to have a fun special beverage with my fun special dinner without having to have alcohol.
This is easily the best spot in Spokane. I would love for somebody to convince me otherwise.
I really want to love this place and will definitely be going back to give it another chance, however, our first experience left us wanting for more.
When we arrived the hostess brought my husband and I to our table. We had our 4 month old daughter with us in her car seat. We were sat in the upper mezzanine which was great. However, the table only had two chairs and there was no option given to us for our daughter. Was she just supposed to sit under the table on the floor? When we asked for a highchair they brought us one but it wasn’t the kind that could flip over and hold a car seat due to the way the back of the chair is higher than the front. We grabbed a chair from an empty table and used it for her car seat.
When our server came to greet us the first thing he said was that we couldn’t use that chair because it was needed for other guests. Again, no other option was given to us. The hostess then came back and told us the same thing, that we couldn’t use that chair and asked if she could bring us anything else. I said, “another chair”. She brought a different type of chair which I sat in so we could use the chair with arms for the car seat.
The food was delicious and I highly recommend their happy hour peel and eat shrimp. They prepared it with Cajun spices and cut the shell just so, to where you didn’t need to work hard for your bite. Thank you! My husband and I split the cesar salad and I loved the lighter style dressing, the fresh croutons were just the right amount of chewy and crunchy and the abundant amount of freshly grated Parmesan cheese was on point! My husband ordered the sausage and mushroom pizza and I ordered the lamb bolognese. The pizza was great, however my pasta never showed up. At first, I thought it was just how our server coursed out our meal but then he came and asked us if we wanted dessert. When I asked about my pasta it was very clear that he had forgotten to enter it but said that he would check with the kitchen. When he returned he told us that the kitchen had sent it to another table. As a member of the hospitality industry, it is in bad taste, in my opinion, to throw your teammates under the bus. Whether or not the food went to the wrong table or was never entered into the order, I would rather be presented with a solution rather than an excuse. When the bill was brought to us, our server told me that he went ahead and took care of the pasta for us and I was a little confused as I wasn’t expecting to pay for a dish I never received.
The wine list was a pleasant surprise and offered and good variety of domestic and international options and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in a metropolitan setting.
Overall, I would say that this restaurant has a ton of promise and maybe we just caught it on an off night. I look forward to going back and hopefully having a different experience.
Wooden City surprises pleasantly on the upside with excellent food and a fun team. What have we enjoyed and ordered more than once? The pork chop, scallops & fancy burger entrees. On the sides – the salads change periodically and all have been creative and full of flavor. The argula/endive was amazing. We like the sausage & mushroom pizza. Brussel sprouts are not to miss either. The staff are fun and attentive.
What could be improved? The cocktails are good, but not great. They need some more pops of flavor and it can get very noisy particularly upstairs. Wooden City is part of our regular rotation. Pictures included are of the fancy burger (fries extra crispy) and the pork chop.
We were deeply impressed by the delicious food, the excellent services, and the reasonable price. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to all our friends.
Delicious vegan pizza. Also a huge thank you to Ramone who chased us down four blocks away after we left one of our travel bags. Such kind service. Ramone, you really saved the day.
This place has really become one of my favorite places to dine with friends at in Spokane. The food is always perfect, atmosphere and service is amazing! I can’t stress how happy the staff is and how well they all are even if they aren’t our servers. Already excited to go back
Phenomenal! I’ve been here several times and each time, without fail, the service, food, and drinks have been top notch. The peppers are a MUST. Highly recommend!!
Wow. Came here after seeing the reviews, but still didn’t expect much. Everything was just perfect, the service, the drinks and mainly the food. all of the dishes we took were delicious, specificly the beet ravioli and the heirloom tomatos.
Absolutely love this place. Will definitely be going back! We had reservations (highly recommend) for 7:15, seated by 7:20. Between the time we got there and were seated we were given drink service. If you can, I highly recommend seating upstairs for two. The food was amazing. The Fancy burger is to die for. The atmosphere was on point. The wait staff (in particular Jade) is above par! All smiles, didn’t come by too often, or too infrequently.
Do not waste your money here. I paid $30 for a to go order the lamb bolognese and was flabbergasted to find this abysmal portion size for the price they charge. When they handed me my togo bag I thought they had forgotten to put my food in there because the bag was so light. The quality of the food is the only reason why I don’t give it a 1 star, though it is nothing to rave about. If you actually want to have an dining experience that will actually impress you just go to Mizuna instead.
The beet salad was amazing! The dessert menu was excellent. Apple crisp was our favorite and then the choclate custard.
We had such a nice experience. The ambiance was also delightful.
Children in pajamas run the front. Mountain hobos work the kitchen. And yet, Wooden City is absolutely fantastic. Nothing about this restaurant can or should change. Frequent readers, who are familiar with the vengeance of the Angry Fork, will of course know the trademark criticism, sometimes bordering on pettiness. Believe you me, after the tomato appetizer thing, the dry-rub wings, well before even the pizza, the Fork couldn’t find anything to be frustrated about: 5 Stars.
Stumbled upon this place while in Spokane for a show. The food, drinks and atmosphere were phenomenal. I wish I could give it 6 stars ⭐️.
Visited on a Monday night with reservations, place was maybe 90% full, seated quickly, staff was very attentive without being a nuisance and seem to be constantly moving and efficient, decent drink menu, I had lamb bolognese and it was freakin awesome, our server Kirsten was awesome too, will be back, maybe my next review will use something other than commas
This was our first of two fancy dinners over the weekend in Spokane. We loved everything about it. The pepper appetizer was one of the best dishes I’ve had. Pizza was flavorful. Pasta dish was delicious as well with good portion sized when split. Drinks and desserts were great as well. I will definitely be back here for another dinner soon. Highly recommend.
Honestly some of the best food we’ve ever had. I got the gnocchi and the Hungarian peppers. They were absolutely incredible. The peppers were perfectly roasted and blackened, and had a delightful mix of cheese and other things in the center. They were spicy and came with a delicious bread to soak up all the oil and juices. The gnocchi was to die for. I’m not sure what it was topped with but I wanted to lick the plate. Our cocktails were also 10/10. My fiance got the lamb Bolognese and he loved his dish as well.
Other than the food, our server was on top of it and super sweet. We had a reservation and were sat right away. The atmosphere was really nice in there, loved the lighting.
Update: we went back 4 days later. Got the surf n turf and the half chicken. Everything was fantastic, but the steak was a little chewy. My fiance and I ended up switching plates and he liked the steak so maybe it was just me. The chicken was great.
Seriously amazing! Probably the best burger I’ve had in Spokane! Definitely will be back. Amazing fries, deck was really great, service was nice and super cute atmosphere. Felt like I was in cute Portland 💛🍔🍟🥃
Hands down one of the best places to eat in Spokane. Great vibe, amazing staff and some top notch food. Everything ive ordered has far from disappointed. Strongly recommend a reservation !
Probably the best burger I have had. Juicy and cooked perfectly. Shared a Cesar salad and the bread crumbs were divine. Nice atmosphere, quick and friendly service.
I was recently in the Spokane area and I’m glad I didn’t miss the opportunity to visit this restaurant. First off the atmosphere is just …. well cool!! The service was great, friendly and inviting. The food was so delicious. I can’t say enough about the French Onion soup!! Definitely recommend this spot!
My husband and I went there last night. It was okay. My favorite part was the decor and atmosphere. Romantic and rustic with real candles on the table. Service was decent. I got a lavender lemonade. I did not like it. It had thyme in it, and that was all I could taste. I’ve had better. I drank it, but it took itself too seriously trying to be extra fancy. My husband had a pineapple daiquiri. It was really small. We each got a pizza, and they were okay. I got the veggie, and husband had the cheese. Pizzas had a pleasant char that tasted nice. Husband did not enjoy the texture of his though. Goopy and floppy. Dessert was great. Apple crisp. Perfect for a wintery night. We enjoyed it overall, but it’s a little over priced and tries to be fancier than it needs to be. It was fun to try.
Feels Upscale but very approachable, love going for date night. Everything on menu is really tasty. One of our favorite restaurants in Spokane!
Highly recommend by a local, Wooden City lived up to the hype. Got a nice seat on the mezzanine, overlooking the kitchen, which I enjoyed, having worked in restaurants and for my love of cooking. Started with the blistered Hungarian peppers in chili oil. Wow! No meal here is complete without that. Split some French onion soup, also top notch. The beet ravioli was said to be heavenly, the lamb bolognese very good, as was the pizza that was split. Topped it off with a shared lemon bar. Great service and drinks, We can’t wait to go back. Reservations a must!
Burger and apps were good. The pizza was not good. Kind of expensive
Very fun atmosphere! The service usually seems a bit stuck up and it’s pretty pricey but the food is wonderful and worth it. Lots of flavorful options and delicious drinks. This is one of our favorite date night spots.
Are here for the first time last month and it’s the best food I have had in Spokane next to Indigenous Eats. Eclectic menu and relaxing atmosphere without the pomp that can come sometimes with fine dining. Tried multiple menu items and each one was delicious. Definitely worth the $ and I will be back many times.
Last night, January 9, 2023. Circled blocks before any parking was found (Spokane). Finally found a lot across the street so that helped. First time here. Had half Caesar Salad (miniscule). The full size might have been a better deal. Veggie pizza with one pepper sliced. I have noticed that a lot of places are doing this sort of thing with ingredients. Had the Peel and Eat Shrimp a generous portion which is a good deal. The only fault was that it was a tad too salty on the best part before peeling. Did not have an alcohol drink but upon observation the drinks looked pretty small. It is Bistro eating and drinking right out of Facebook. The service was very good, indeed. I know that our server must go home with a thousand conversations in his brain. But he never wavered. Should do reservations. But I am a bit reserved as to whether I will go back. Spokane is making a stab at being “trendy”. If you really want a burger, try “Wisconsin Burger” over on Hatch on South Hill.
I’ve genuinely never had food this good . I had the surf and turf and it was exquisite so flavorful and wonderful service
